Games Informer recently chatted with SEGA’s content production department Kagasei Shimomura to find out what the Japanese company’s future plans are. As we all know, SEGA has a number of prolific franchises which it has benched and it’s looking to resurrect some of these with a modern twist. While a number of the series have already been announced by the company, they also have some undisclosed retro projects in the works for franchises which have been long since dormant. Mr. Shimomura sadly wouldn’t elaborate on what these are.
“But Shinobi: Art of Vengeance isn’t the only legacy IP returning in the near future. Franchises like Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Golden Axe, and Streets of Rage were also announced in that 2023 teaser video. “We can’t talk in detail about anything, but that being said, we are considering several projects and are working on several projects,” Shimomura says. “Not only games, but also other things that have been [announced] already. We’re really looking forward to growing several of our IPs and making sure that we have several fun things coming up in the future.”

Yeah, why are these taking so long to even be shown. They manage to find enough time to fart out another mediocre Sonic game on a regular basis so they should start putting more effort into these other more interesting franchises
Yeah because the last sonic game was SOOO bad right?
I drink Blah’s ussy fluids
Sega is reviving it recently
SEGA is really making progress on revival IPs.
I hope it’s Sonic Adventure.
Skies of arcadia, skies of arcadia, SKIES OF ARCADIA CMON SEGA
@Nintendiz
Sega: we’ll revive it when Nintendo localizes Mother 3.
Know what happens if the Sonic Adventure remakes are announced successfully?
I was just about to comment that
Please return Princess Sally Acorn 🐿👑💖 as the 2nd lead/Partner In Crime and lover of Sonic the Hedgehog, and officially make her part of the Sonic Team already!
Shinning force and panzer dragoon saga would be great.
Phantasy Star: the legends of algol
ETERNAL CHAMPIONS! DONT SCREW THIS UP! ENTIRE CHARACTER ROSTER FROM DARKSIDE !
I say redo the phantasy star series in the 2d-hd fashion like they did with dragon quest
I agree, Phantasy Star was a killer series
Congo Bongo is one of Sega’s biggest missed opportunities. The game has eye popping graphics, amazing sound and great personality. Sega should have back on the Genesis ported Congo Bongo to the console. They then could have followed up with games that turned it into a franchise like Nintendo did with Donkey Kong. Psycho Fox is another game where the missed an opportunity to build a franchise and is the most underrated game on the Sega Master system. Now that Sega is reviving franchises such a Ecco the Dolphin maybe they should consider giving games like Congo Bongo and Psycho Fox some love.
I’m so excited about Jet Set Radio coming back!
Honestly Bomb Rush Cyberfunk was better they have a lot to prove. Heard it’s 2 games a remake of the first and a live service game which is worrying
What about Nights Into Dreams?
