Investors are not happy with Kadokawa, the parent company of FromSoft, namely its CEO Takeshi Natsuno. The reason they aren’t happy is the investors believe that the company didn’t fully capitalise on the success of Elden Ring. They believe that Takeshi Natsuno should have self-published the game rather than relying on Bandai Namco for publishing. Bandai Namco naturally took a large slice of the money due to them publishing copies of the successful FromSoft game. This all stems from Oasis Management who are Kadokawa’s largest shareholder with a hefty 13.76% stake. The activist shareholder wants its CEO Takeshi Natsuno gone and is trying to trigger a leadership battle.
Kadokawa CEO faces shareholder battle as investors criticise handling of Elden Ring success

I’m going to continue commenting on this site about how awful modern Sonic is, and there isn’t anything you can do to stop me.
For every comment you delete, I’m going to post two more. Every email address you ban, I’ll make two more.
The truth will not be silenced, the pathetic mods of this site are moronic control freaks.
Time to give them a reality check. I invite everyone else who’s sick of censorship to join me.
We’ve had a lot of trolling on Sonic articles seemingly stemming from a couple of individuals repeatedly spamming. Apologies if you actually have an issue with the franchise. It is hard to tell who is legitimate and who is not. This isn’t really the place for the comment but I’ll leave it up. Next time just use the contact form if you have an issue.
oh okay sorry
No worries 👍
Investors are literally k!lling companies left and right nowadays. They have no idea how to run the business. They need to shut up and stop ruining everything
Yes, Sonic games especialy modern is heavy mediocre or worst! That Sonic racing game is good for nothing, mario kart is 100% better then Why play Sonic? I too long time see too many Sonic trash on this site and maibe i must try other, better nintendo (no sega) site for news.
This is crazy. These people can’t change sonic maybe you should contact sega.
Only like seven people comment on this site, you are a loser with no life and only look stupid by wasting your own time and being a @sshle for like five people to see. I know for a fact that the loser that has been spamming on this site has no friends, I bet his family doesn’t like him either. The guy spamming about sonic is obviously the same guy that has been trolling using multiple accounts for over a year now. People have called them out and have told them what a pathetic piece of sht loser they are multiple times. They aren’t going to stop. You replying to them only gives them joy. They are a cringy loser with no nothing to live for and nobody that likes them. Thsts why they are here every day spamming. Again for what? An audience of five people who can just scroll past and not read what they say. They think that the troll comments actually do something when they don’t. The troll is not only a loser but a moron. The world would be better if they weren’t in it.
Yeah, I’ve tried banning him multiple times but he is one person using multiple user names and fake emails addresses.
What are you, Chris Chan? I’m all for free speech and anti-censorship advocacy, but this is lolcow behavior, dude.
We should just change this article to a sonic article.
Bandai owned the IP they sold it to Kadokawa a year or 2 ago. The game was funded by them like Dark Souls which is still owned by Bandai.
Investors are always the smartest people
That’s who bankrolls the games if you hate them so much or think yourself so much superior then don’t contribute to their system anymore just saying instead of being some loser who thinks they’re somehpw superior and all talk being full of yourself.
In this case they are raising a good concern why is leadership relying on Bandai and others why not publish themselves because if they did then Kadokawa would have made way more money and own the IP. Instead Bandai makes the profit and the investors who pour their money in feel like they’re being screwed over not getting a full return on their investment.
Imagine making a successful and critically acclaimed game and the shareholders are still mad
You’re stupid aren’t you? The issue is that Kadokawa did not publish it and Bandai Namco makes the profits. So why buy and own these game studios to begin with? That is the issue shareholders have they could have maximized profit and removed the middle man. It’s common sense.
I’m smart enough to know that Fromsoft has never self-published their own games before. The shareholders are the stupid ones here. Yeah, maybe in 20/20 hindsight they could have made more money self-publishing Elden Ring but how could they know that at the time? Maybe you don’t know, but there wasn’t a lot of confidence in the game before launch. In fact, there was a period of time that people thought it had been cancelled.
The issue is that the profits are going to Bandai Namco. Shareholders want to know why Kadokawa didn’t publish it themselves maximizing their profits people investing their money into something have the right to make surw their investment is being utilized to the full potential it’s why they are raising eyebrows over the leadership. Not to mention them wanting to sell to Sony when Sony couldn’t afford the whole company or bringing in Tencent as investors.
People like you should have no say in society when you’re this dumb it’s why the world is the way it is burning down and you refuse to see you’re the reason why with your stupidity and entitled Hasan Piker millennial moron logic.
suggestion: always be polite and considerate: “Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.” – Ephesians 4:29, New Living Translation version
I agree to an extent it’s weird Kadokawa owns and buys these studios then they need other companies to fund their games and own the IP. However Bandai Namco owned and funded Elden Ring they sold the IP to Kadokawa in 2024. If Kadokawa funded From Software years ago maybe they could have worked with the late Kentaro Miura instead of Martin whom Bandai pushed. While they are still with us From Software should work with Hideyuki Kikuchi on a new IP, Yoshiki Tanaka on a new IP, maybe Go Nagai too, and make a Guin Saga game adaption. Also they own Otogi they should make a 3 and remake the first 2. It’s also weird Kadokawa owns Acquire too the original Tenchu devs and From owns the Tenchu IP why not fund a new Tenchu or Shinobido? Instead Acquire had to go to Shueisha Games for funding a small title, Spike Chunsoft is the same they have to rely on Bandai for work with the occasional small title they self publish and they could easily make a Kinnikuman 1978 and Nisei game and Saint Seiya game with Tenkaichi gameplay. From Software is the same they need Sony to fund their games like Demon Souls and Blooborne, Bandai Namco with Dark Souls and Elden Ring, Activision with Sekiro, and now Nintendo with Duskbloods and normally the publisher owns the IP.
Don’t blame them. These guys also are trying to fix Square Enix. Oasis is not the only shareholder calling out the mess at Kadokawa. People fail to realize the issue is Kadokawa owns From Software and now the Elden Ring IP yet Bandai Namco makes the profit off the game because they originally owned the IP and published the game. Shareholders want to know why Kadokawa couldn’t do it without Bandai and make the profit. It’s true why do all their studios need to go to other publishers for money? Why isn’t Kadokawa publishing it’s own games outside Lolipop Chainsaw? Aniplex is publishing their own games
Soulless and Greedy monsters, I don’t even want to call them people. Are destroying not only gaming companies but the entire wirld. Most of the investors and people on top, not just of gaming companies but almost every company, business, and corporation are inhumane monsters. If you aren’t a millionaire or billionaire, they don’t see you as people. I promise you that they don’t and its really starting to destroy things. I don’t know what we can legally do to stop it, they control everything, and most really are above the law. I would say it’s companies fault for relying on investors and letting them take so much power but back in the day, they probably weren’t as bad as they are now and businesses need money to start well, a business.
Stfu brokie get a job take a showaah
They can never just be happy with making money and making a successful product. If it was up to investors Elding Ring would be a subscription game with paid ads, paid upgrades, way more microtransactions and dlc, rushed sequels, paid skins, and worse “Its Not as Successful as Fortnite so Fire the CEO” Aren’t they doing a movie?, now we know why and apparently that isn’t enough for thee evil people. Elding Ring is huge and literally is comming to everything. They just can’t be happy. And Namco Bandai is one of the best business partners in the world and I’m not just talking gaming. They know what they are doing to my knowledge. It’s why so many work with them. If you go to japan you’ll see Namco’s name everywhere
Sickr, Most of these comments are the same guy, the guy that has been spamming about Sonic, is the same guy that steals the names of other users, and sometimes he’ll make comments that doesn’t necessarily sound like trolling just to throw people off. That Blaze the Meow Meow comment is him and not the actual Blaze the Meow Meow and he is most of the other comments as well. He has been doing this for over a year but it’s getting worse.
So, the game was super successful, marked a before and after, and people are still waiting for the next game. It took Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R. R. Martin around 2–3 years to create and establish the lore, and then about 5 years of development before the game was finally released. And the investors are just like, “Nah, I could have done it better.” Like, what the hell is wrong with these greedy people?
Rich people are a plague on everything: politics, society, and even the arts. EA is a great example of what could have happened to the game and FromSoftware if investors had gotten their way with creative decisions. It’s absolutely disgusting and embarrassing. These boomers, who are so out of touch, think they can do everything. They should retire and let professionals do the work in peace.
