Nintendo has confirmed via social media that it plans to donate 50 million yen to help with relief efforts for the Kumamoto earthquake disaster which has claimed 38 lives so far and has seen about 6,900 evacuees at shelters. The money will go to the Red Cross Society in the area. The Pokemon Company also donated 100 million yen earlier this week to help with relief efforts. Nintendo has also said that they will provide free repairs for their products to those affected until 1st February 2027.
“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to everyone affected by the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake.
We will provide free repairs for our products, until 1 February 2027, for customers in areas covered by the Disaster Relief Act as a result of the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake. In addition, to support those affected by the disaster, we will donate ¥50 million to the Japanese Red Cross Society.
