Darksiders 2 Reconfirmed As A Wii U Launch Game

Vigil Games, the development team behind the long-awaited Darksiders 2, has revealed to Digital Spy that the game is still firmly on track to launch alongside the Wii U when it launches sometime after June this year. Darksiders 2 lead designer Hayden Dalton also spoke about the benefits the Wii U controller will have when switching items. Here’s what Dalton had to say about the game:

Lead designer Hayden Dalton has said that the action-adventure sequel will be available “day one” on Nintendo’s new console when it launches.

“That’s been very interesting to see what those guys are doing, and they’re making efforts to make sure we do use it in more than a slapdash way.

“It’s basically the core game, but then with added abilities to do certain things that you can’t do on the other consoles.”

“One of the things that we did, when we were originally going to show it off, was that you could equip stuff directly. So, for instance, I could be running along and I could click on another piece and I could put it on as I’m running through the game,” he revealed.

“That’s huge, it’s not breaking up the game in a way, I’m not going into a menu and assigning it, I’m literally just tapping as I’m playing.”

“We’re not basically heavily changing the core game to support the control system, but the control system will be an enhancement of the core game.”

    1. This has nothing to do with CoD. Besides, it’s obvious knowledge that any first party Nintendo game will sell more than anything else on a Nintendo system.

    2. Just to say CoD is not a launch game…

=0 however it could be just after launch depending on the Wii U launch date.

  1. That’s a great way to look at the Wii U controller. Each game doesn’t have to use it in some revolutionary way. It just has to use it well. That’s what it sounds like they’re doing. Can’t wait to play this, and I can’t wait to get a Wii U. 3DS is keeping me tided.

    1. Absolutely agreed. It’ll be a console way of giving you multiple “windows” like a computer, except it’ll mostly be out of your way as well. RPGs will finally be playable, you could have customized sets or just weapon/ability choices. But everything that’s not as deep as an RPG will still benefit.

      And Metroid will be revolutionary.

      1. Star Fox will also be revolutionary…

I can’t believe thinking about Star Fox and Metroid on a powerful console =)

    1. of course it is! i dont know why but many developers are interesting on wiiu.i think thats why because the tablet.when steave jobs Annalise the first tablet or ipad2 all the world had been shocked.now science tries to make as many tablets as they can to improve the science with a few words.so with the wiiu i think it was a good but copy cat idea for nintendo.

  3. I would be disappointed if this wasn’t a launch title considering the developers said the game was ready for display at last years E3, but Nintendo decided against it. It should definitely be there this year. I think this will be a definitive game for the Wii U to show how multi-platform games will differ on the Wii U.

    Leave luck to heaven.

    1. I find it fascinating how you are the most biased person I’ve ever seen, and you instantly think other peoples’ opinions are wrong because they aren’t the same as yours. Not everyone is the same as you, and people would probably like you more if you didn’t instantly jump to conclusions and insult people you disagree with you.

And this is coming from a guy who likes Nintendo a lot more than Sony and Microsoft.
