Wii U Marketing Materials Appear Down Under

Australian retailer JB Hi Fi is promoting Nintendo’s forthcoming console. Although Nintendo hasn’t revealed software price points, the retailer is listing Wii U games for $99 each. The Wii U console and the Wii U GamePad displayed in the adverts are the E3 2011 models, which are not the product versions.

    1. I’ll be surprised if they’re even $99. New releases nowadays are at $120 so let’s just hope that don’t happen.

          1. I recently went on a Quick Trip to Europe,
And the Nintendo Games there are only Half as much as they are in New Zealand! That’s around 50-60$ per Game!.

Games Down-Under tend to cost a Small Fortune -.-

            1. I know they do. I was born in England and lived there until the age of 13. The prices are just too damn high.

            2. Hey this may sound like shameless advertising but if you think the cost is too much in New Zealand nzgameshop.com to get games in new zealand at Uk prices with free shiping

                1. Yes they do stop talking out your arse.
I have a uk wii nz 3ds uk ds and UK and NZ games they are both Pal and why would they make a website were nothing can be used for the target audience.

      1. I feel for you bro.
I live in East Europe and we have the standard EU prices (60euro sometimes more). Not too bad on it’s own, but considering that the average salary is 300 euro, it starts getting bad.

    2. Actually i’ve been speaking to reps from EB who’ve been telling me the strong aussie dollar is finally having a downwards pressure on game prices. Forza Horizon is only going to be $79, with the special edition going for $99. I think the same goes for Colonial Marines, so its gradually starting to take affect as of now.

People also need to realize that when a price is listed in the US, like $59.99 for a new game, that doesn’t include taxes. Our prices do. So when US customers get to the checkout they pay more for the game. Plus you have to factor in the distribution of the game. When you distribute a single game, to a country with 15x more people (and therefore on average, 15x more gamers) you can divide up the cost of distribution amongst a higher gaming population which means a smaller cost per copy. Plus games distributed in the US are also printed IN the US. Aussie games are printed overseas, shipped to Australia, we pay the cost of technically importing the product, then its distributed over a huge country to a smaller gaming population, which drives up the cost per-unit.

Come on, us Aussies are smart enough to know why we pay more without me having to explain it aren’t we?

      1. Actually, a few games – particularly first party Nintendo games, are printed in Australia. Nintendo does have a manufacturing branch in Melbourne.

    1. Yeah EB Games has predicted it will cost $600. This is the same as 630 US dollars. New releases range from $100-$120.

      1. Exactly. And i did also explain in my reply to the previous comment, exactly why we pay more. And like you said, our income is higher. So when you add that in to what i said earlier, it becomes clear our prices are only slightly more expensive than they should be, by maybe $10-$20 at the most.

          1. No you guys pay more.
We don’t get paid 100% more then you guys, so why do our games cost 100% more.
Wage plays very little roll in it.
Publishers have stated before, we only get charged more because they know we will pay it. Although this is being proven wrong as more and more Aussies just import games from America and Englang because it so much cheaper or we just buy used (which pricing wise, unless on sale does suck.

    1. Yeah, EBGames even longer. I pointed out on one of the other posts that EBGames already had props on display for advertisement.

      1. that odd, it was suppose to put “Wii U Can Do “1080p Without Breaking A Sweat”…..DUH!” from reviewtectusa, but it gave me a different link. you guys can ignored that if you want…oh now i see it was the playlist that cause it to change that was new.

        1. You failed miserably. And I saw your video. That comment was coming from a company that makes a kiddy game that hardly uses a lot of power compared to games like crysis..

In other words I don’t take them seriously. Anyway, why are you boasting about graphics? I thought you weren’t a graphics whore? Hmmm?

    1. It’s probably just grouping Nintendo things together. My local Gamestation has some Wii U advertising stuff up over the Wii games.

    2. It’s just got a few confirmed launch titles, hardly worth dedicating a whole new shelf at least at the moment

  1. Both JB and EB Games have had those out for months here in AUS. As for Price EB have pre-order prices from $99 to $119.

  3. Sporting products merchants can also be great places to periodically check for clearance bargains on NFL jerseys. Just about all sporting merchandise stores have some sort of clearance bin or rack located within the confines in their store. Whenever a regional player is traded or launched unexpectedly, retailers are caught by using a large amount of these jerseys of their stock. They’re going to attempt to quickly unload this product by slashing the prices substantially. On the large chain sporting merchandise shops, Dick’s Sporting Products is one of the finest. They have the standard walk-in shop, nevertheless they even have a web based browsing web site too. Dick’s has several other products outside of NFL jerseys. They have got huge quantities of identify brand apparel from firms such as, Nike, Adidas and Beneath Armour. and ladies are just one among the many diverse products that Dick’s needs to provide.
