Mario & Sonic At The Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games Trailer

Nintendo and SEGA have teamed up to bring you a brand new trailer for Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. The game – which is coming to Wii U and Nintendo 3DS later this year – features a number of events including snowboarding, ice skating, and bob sleighing. Like the previous games, players can also participate in fictional Dream Events. Hopefully we shouldn’t have to wait too long to get a release date for the game.

  1. Looks cool…though what I would really like to see is a “real” crossover between Mario and Sonic. A 3D platformer (or even 2D, maybe both?) with playable characters from both of those games would be awesome if you ask me. For the 3D one it could be structured like a mix of Sonic Adventure and Super Mario 64…not necessarily having a “hub” world like one of the two though, just using the actual levels as examples. There could be elements from both game series’ in each of the levels, or there could be some levels that are strictly Mario based (but you can play as Sonic characters in) and vice versa.

As for the 2D version, it could be like a mix of Sonic Rush and New Super Mario Bros, or Sonic Advance and Super Mario World. Something like that. It would also still have the same main principles as the 3D version like having levels that are mixed between the two series and levels that are based more on one or the other.

I think this idea has huge potential, and if it happened I would definitely buy it on day one. I don’t see a reason for Nintendo and Sega NOT to do this, because well Sonic has been in Smash Bros (and will probably return) and now the two companies have this partnership going. So yeah…it’d be a fantastic opportunity which would be silly of them to pass up.

    That’s my two cents.

    1. It would also be great for them to vary the lineup they create as well… Getting bored of M&S@T_O/WOG and NSMB games after 4 new iterations of each, with no notable change in gameplay.

      1. This would be a great opportunity for a change in gameplay. Imagine Sonic running through a Mario based world. Or Mario jumping through a Sonic based world. The possibilities are endless.

    1. I hope so. I dont have anyone to play these type of games with. If it doesnt have online i wont buy it.

  2. Looks very good… my only thoughts are that Olympic games are usually so poor, I hope the gameplay is right that it can be an enjoyable and competitive game as it should be… it looks like that might be the case, but I am not sure

  3. Why does nintendo even bother with these games or maybe just this series, it was never good to begin with. They could have used these resources for any for any other game..something worth your time..:(

  4. I’d like to see Nintendo buy the rights of Sonic from Sega or atleast have a 5 year contract saying Sonic games will only be on Nintendo platforms because I mean look at how well he has done… well excluding the Storybook Sonic games which were hit and miss. I mean look at Sonic Colours and how that pretty much brought Sonic back from the grave with the help of Nintendo :) Sega, either give the rights to Nintendo or work with them full time.

  5. I CANNOT HELP BUT THINK THIS TIME IT LOOKS FREAKING GOOD PLEASE BE POLISHED WITH GREAT MOTION CONTROLS AND FINGERS CROSSED ONLINE

I WANT THIS TO BE GOOD IL BUY IF IT IS GRAPHICS ARE NICE GREAT GAME FOR MOTION PLAY PLEASSE BE POLISHED NEVER GOT THE WII VERSIONS THERE MEH

    THIS COULD CHANGE THINGS

  6. Is tails ever going to be playable again if not i am never buying a new sonic game again because tails is my favorite c and I love tails I love tails s I was 4
