Now That Other Versions Of Watch Dogs Are Complete, Ubisoft Concentrating On Wii U Version

Watch Dogs creative director Jonathan Morin has told Redbull that the development team at Ubisoft is now concentrating on developing the delayed Wii U version of the game. Morin says that the developers are hard at work making sure that the game gets the attention it deserves.

“Right now [the Wii U version is] currently being done, but I’m not directly involved. We wanted to finish all the platforms that we are currently shipping. We needed those guys to get [the shipping versions] finished, and the good news now is that they’re all fully focused on the Wii U version, making sure it gets the attention it deserves to make it the best version it can be.”

Thanks, Simply G

    1. i feel the same.
wd could look like a wii game,
but i realy hope it looks much bether then the ps3/360 version.
maybe the same way like titanfall looks on xbox ONE to 360
so the ps4 version shows more details & lightning effect, then the U version.
in fact of these the next gens (incl. U) looks the same :-)

      1. Have you played Black Flag? It was better than the PS3/360 versions and used the gamepad as a huge map (not very impressive but at least was something). My point is I don’t see them doing a bad job with this game.

        1. I agree, and I commend Ubisoft for releasing this information. They are one of the primary legs holding the WiiU up, and yet the fans give them nothing but shit.

          1. Ridley Clone XIII: Kalas

If Ubisoft wants some respect & love, they should learn to give it back in turn. But nope. Instead they delay Rayman Legends, a completed game, to go multi-platform & release all versions at once but then do the opposite with Watch_Dogs by delaying only the Wii U version of the game so they can finish the others & release them months before the Wii U version, missing DLC from Assassin’s Creed 4, & a glitch-filled Assassin’s Creed 3. Did I miss anything?

    2. WiiU’s one PowerPC core powered a 720P/60fps Nano assault Neo. The second core can run both the PS3 and Xbox 360 at the same time. While drawing half the power( energy ) in electricity. All this while playing Mario Kart 8 at a blistering 60fps.

    3. I always thought it was common knowledge that for the most part, a multi-platform game is best on PC.

    4. No? Because it’s being treated separately it well be built off the 360/ps3 version, it we’ll have better graphics, as well as gamepad support. So no it well be a better version then those

    5. Do you even PC bro?

On a side note, the Wii U version could have the best controls/gameplay with the pad.

    1. Oh they will. If not, what’s the point? Sales are definitely gonna suck and while its clearly their fault for repeating Rayman Legends delay, they’re gonna blame us like fucking idiots.

      1. They probably aren’t gonna gimp it this time though cuz other versions are complete, Now they can just focus on our version. Watch Dogs is surely going to look better than the PS3/360 versions. I just hope this means they can put extra content in the Wii U version…

    2. so you Nintendo fanboys aren’t even glad you atleast get 2/100 of third party games.

  1. As much as i wanted to support the wiiu version my bro got a ps4 not to long ago so well i guess ill be getting it on the ps4 or he will :p (same me a few bucks lol). If he didn’t, i would much rather of gotten the wiiu version than the ps3 version.

    1. You mean that game with a shitty ending that Wii U got that instead of the Trilogy collection every other system had?

Yeah. I expect this super late ass lazy port to be watered down enough to drive away you enthusiastic people.

      1. If the Wii U got the Mass Effect trilogy, you would have complained that it got it after every other system too. It was easy to package a trilogy of games for the other systems because they all already had the games developed years prior. The only system that didn’t have all of the games was the PS3 because it didn’t have the first Mass Effect – it had ME 2 & 3. But that was one game.

For the Wii U, Bioware would have had to develop/port all three games for the Wii U which would have taken a significantly longer time. Then when that trilogy came out a year or two later, you would have complained that nobody wanted it because it was so late.

        So… *shrug* Nobody wins.

  2. LADY bird books run great books for children in the 40s,50s,60s,70s and 80s. Every reading session two books were the delayed great copy. WiiU version shall be best watch. Child of light is out people go and buy of e-shop.

  3. I don’t have it pre ordered anymore, but probably picking it up later on! I’ve bought all other Ubisoft games day one (ZombiU, Splinter Cell, Assassin’s III/IV). I think I can wait with this for a while. And also, I have MK8 and SSB 3DS then, while waiting for the SSB Wii U!

  4. I hope you all realize that the WiiU version was delayed because it’d be competing with Mario Kart 8 if released on the 27th

    1. which scenario is better: spending money on a port to be released alongside all other versions but having it compete with a high profile franchise (such as mario kart) and having that impact sales but at least selling something OR delaying the port for several months to avoid that competition, yet still spending the same amount of money on it and releasing it at a time when nobody really gives a damn about the game anymore and having it fail miserably?

you may be correct about your assumption but if that’s really the case then they didn’t do themselves a favor (even less so if it’s not the case actually)

    2. Ridley Clone XIII: Kalas

xD Really? You think that’s the reason? Rayman Legends was released for every console except Wii U close to GTAV’s release. Don’t be fooled into believing that’s the reason Watch_Dogs for Wii U was delayed. It was delayed simply to focus on the versions they think will sell the most. And if the conspiracy theorists are right, it was also delayed to SHIT on the Wii U port in the hopes the other versions will sell so many that the Wii U port will only sell a small amount then come up & say “Well we aren’t getting a lot of support from Nintendo’s fanbase, so we’re dropping our support for the Wii U.” I’m afraid to say that I’m close to believing that’s the real reason. Just look at the two future Assassin’s Creed games. No mention of a Wii U port at all. It’s like they are waiting to see how well Watch_Dogs for Wii U sells before announcing a Wii U port of those Assassin’s Creed games.

  5. Not only they’re far too late with this Wii U port but so fucking stupid enough to delay it AGAIN for another 7 months like they cold bloodedly did with Rayman Legends.

I seriously don’t see how this version is gonna sale pass a million or half of it after the 2014 holidays especially when Sonic Boom, X, Smash Bros. 4, Bayonetta 2, maybe Zelda: Hyrule Warriors and even Mario Kart 8 continuing its sure dominance is gonna take the stage plus Ubisoft pissing the Wii U fanbase off with yet another mistake of a delay.

I so can’t wait to hear these dumb bitches cry that their “hard work”, which I’m sure its gonna be another typical lazy ass port, was for nothing and blame us for not buying their shit just like them wasting their time pushing an already completed Wii U version of Rayman to 360/PS3 to a point where their target audience flocked to GTA5 and yet still blame us for their own Rayman short sighted failure.

I woulf wait until this game is up for preowned sale because at least I know I’ll get a game I wanted that should’ve been on Wii U months ago and that the money paid for isn’t going to them. Thanks preowned gaming market and fuck you Ubisoft.

    1. Seriously, Ubisoft now has more than 9,200 fucking employees, far more than EA/Activision/WB put together and yet these assholes couldn’t port Wii U version of Watchdogs on time even when they’re only working on..how many games now…8-10 with 9,000+ employees?

Now they seriously pissed me off.

        1. Ridley Clone XIII: Kalas

All I hear is an excuse for Ubisoft. They could have held off with Watch_Dogs for other systems while they finished the Wii U port.

      1. Ridley Clone XIII: Kalas

I’m just going to wait & see how well Watch_Dogs sells. If it sells more than the other versions, I might get it while it’s still 60 bucks. If it doesn’t, I’ll wait & get it pre-owned. And if Ubisoft pulls Wii U support because Watch_Dogs failed to sell the amount they wanted & try to put the blame on us, fuck them altogether. I fell in love with Assassin’s Creed with AC3, but I’ll just use Let’s Play videos on youtube for future Creed games to find out what happens with Juno’s plans. They are on a slippery slope with me. I might be one guy but I don’t care. I refuse to support a company that wants to shit on my #1 console company.

    2. I don’t know anyone making money on the WiiU. If we get a game, it’s pretty much charity or an indie. I’m happy it’s coming because it’s my only way to play this game.

    3. lol stranga like be crying like at hyporcrite during e3 when he fiend out 92% or third party games are not even coming to wiiu.

      1. Ridley Clone XIII: Kalas

You do know the Wii U isn’t the only console he owns or plans to own, right?

  6. Isn’t this the version that got delayed? What’s the point now? No one’s gonna buy this shit, lol

    1. Ridley Clone XIII: Kalas

I’ll buy it… when it’s pre-owned or if, and when, it sells the most on the Wii U. Whichever comes first.

      1. No offense, but wouldn’t it make more sense for you to buy the Wii U version and support it instead of hoping it gets success? You can’t just stand on the sidelines. That would make you partially the reason it wouldn’t have sold well. Lol.

        1. Ridley Clone XIII: Kalas

In which case, it’s a win-win. If it sales well, I can buy the game at full price & enjoy it to it’s fullest. If it doesn’t, I can wave bye to Ubisoft as they drop their so called support for the Wii U. Besides, I’m just one guy. Now if I was able to convince hundreds of others to do the same as me, then you could say I was part of the reason it failed. But if I’m the one person that can save the game from being a flop for Wii U, I’ll gladly spartan kick it’s ass right down a pit.

          1. Hate that they delayed it, but whatever. Wii U’s the only platform I have for this game, so I can’t complain.

  7. “Wii U version, making sure it gets the attention it deserves to make it the best version it can be”

OK Ubisoft, I shall believe that when I see it. Right now I am going to take that with a pinch of salt.

    1. How I’d handle their BS words is to take it throw it out of the window..of the world’s tallest building in Dubai.

  8. thanks to ubisoft this attention will be wasted however.. due to the delay and watchdogs appearing on other platforms first the wii u version will fail..

where before there were at least slight chances of it being a successful title on the wii u those have now all but disappeared

  9. I’ll ignore Ubi news about Wii U Watch Dogs until somebody release a comparison video of how it deserve to be in my game library.

If it’s an ugly port with a bad excuse for gamepad support… I’ll pass.

If the work really justifies ” what the Wii U deserves”, I just might…

    1. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

I’ll only start buying their games again if Prince of Persia is released for the Wii U…

  10. @ least we won’t have to wait in upwards of 4 yrs. to get it, like was the case w/ many multiplats on PS3.

As long as the Wii U version runs smoothly, utilizes the gamepad well (if ZombiU is any indication, they that’s likely), & the game looks fully realized on its own, I’ll definitely get it. Maybe the Wii U version will get exclusive content. Watch_Dogs, Child of Light, & Prince of Persia are so far the last of the Ubisoft games for me (having already bought ZombiU & Rayman Legends).

    1. And you know what? When the fans supported the late release of games on the PS3, the series stuck with the system and had simultaneous releases with later installments (Mass Effect, Bioshock, Ninja Gaiden, etc.). When they didn’t support it too well or as much as the publisher expected, the series didn’t continue (Deadrising, Stealth Inc., Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest, etc.).

It’s the same thing with the Wii U. Sure it would be nice to get the game at the same time as other systems, but the fact is, the system is getting it. If more consumers support the system and the released games – even if they’re late, then publishers will have more incentive to stick with the console/brand in the future. It’s not a discriminate against Nintendo thing, it’s just business.

  11. Wii U is my only way to get the game, so I’m thankful that they’re porting it. I can probably understand why they had to delay it because they might have wanted to add some GamePad features like hacking and maps, weapons, etc. And seeing how powerful Watch Dogs looks in terms of graphics, it would probably look amazing on the Wii U as well. I hope they add the DLC to the Wii U version too or at least put it in the game free since it’s still being worked on.

    1. too bad these Nintendo fanboys like that dumb strnga guy wont even appericate this game.

  12. I’ll probably get this for PC, as I do with most multiplats. I need to upgrade it, though, as it’s a few years old.

  13. Not interested in this game anymore, I understand why you did what you did Ubisoft, that does not mean I have to like it.

  14. This version wont be far from the PS4 version. High end PC’s are the only systems that can replicate the graphics shown off at e3 last year. PS4 versions raindrops will shine a little bit brighter than WiiU, and thats about it.
