Well that’s good that the Wii U is doing better than all the other competing consoles, but it’s a shame that Japan can only muster up about 14,000 sales.

Their home videogame market really is in a decline isn’t it?

*looks at the sales from last week & laughs* XD Sony’s Playstation 4 practically got curb stomped in sales by Nintendo’s Wii U! And what’s this? No Watch_Dogs to be seen at all on this!? XD Now what was sasori running his mouth off about last week about Watch_Dogs wiping the floor with Mario Kart 8? *snickers* I hope we see the same thing from the UK sales. Doubtful but it’d be nice, so we can stomp sasori’s face even further. Not really surprised by a 3DS game outselling Mario Kart 8 in Japan. It feels like Nintendo’s home consoles are practically dying in Japan. Good work making a comeback in Japan, though, Sony. It’s only by around 3k but better than nothing, right.

I wonder if sasori will even have the BALLS to come in here with Watch_Dogs nowhere in sight on this sales chart, talking shit about how it’s crushing Mario Kart 8.

          >.< Maybe we can talk him into trying. Maybe a lightning bolt to his head will kick start his brain & fix his stupidity.

      1. Because Japan is the only region Watch_Dogs is being sold in, right? /s
Not trying to defend sasori, by no means, but that argument is really bad. Just because the WiiU is doing bad in Japan, doesn’t mean it’s doing bad everywhere else either, after all. And the same goes for Watch_Dogs, because it sold very well around the world.

  3. I don’t think Mario Kart had the Hardware-pushing power everyone thought it would. It’s really no surprise, Too Little too late on Nintendo’s part.

Still, given the games coming out halfway through WiiU’s lifespan, it will be a nice niche console at an affordable price.

I would have no choice but to agree with you… IF this was any other country BUT Japan. Japan has clearly shown it cares more for the handheld market than the home console market.

  4. just 13k…
    thats not good.
even ps4 got more this week.
omg… a 360 game abd jesus they sell more consoles than last week.
i think in two weeks the u is sadly under the ps4 again.
zelda is not that look everybody was hopping at.

  6. LOL so much for “MK8 is gonna sell millions of WiiUs!!!!!!!!”.
I hope it’s like this in Japan only though, it’s probably doing better in other regions, just like other consoles too.

Funny thing is it still might. Mario Kart 8 is one of those games that continues to sell months, even years later, while also still selling a couple of consoles in the process.

      1. I’m not sure why you felt like it was neccessary to tell me that at this point, but thanks anyway for your input.

  7. So, couldn’t help but notice that this site put last week’s sales in parentheses(Which shows Wii U sales decrease), but they didn’t do that in last week’s sales report(which showed huge Wii U sales increase) http://mynintendonews.com/2014/06/04/japanese-charts-nintendo-3ds-sells-23k-and-wii-u-sells-19k-with-mario-kart-8/
Hhmmm I wonder why? Oh, and Patcher I guess Nintendo isn’t gonna do that price drop like you believed. http://mynintendonews.com/2014/06/05/pachter-believes-nintendo-may-announce-50-wii-u-price-cut-at-e3-will-be-a-subdued-event/
