Some Amiibo like Meta Knight are retailer exclusive in both the United States and Canada, but recent wording on the official website suggests that this might only be for the launch period. If you take a look at the Meta Knight Amiibo page you’ll notice that it simply says “Exclusively at Best Buy at launch.” This suggests that after the launch period you might be able to purchase him at different retailers.

Remember that Rosalina will be getting a amiibo in the Super Mario Lineup. Unless that is Target exclusive, this is true.

True, Michelle. But we have to just hope that Rosalina, Meta Knight, and more exclusives are only exclusive for a short time.
It’s very possible that the exclusive thing is only temporary, especially since the Amiibo that are exclusives are compatible with more than one game. Meta Knight is gonna be able to be used in Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Rosalina in Mario Part 10, Shulk in Xenoblade 3D, and I’m sure Lucario will be compatible with a future Pokémon game. With Skylanders everyone wanted Whirlwind, a Target exclusive. About three or four months after he was gone from Target they put him out everywhere and he was super easy to find. Stuff that’s “retailer exclusive” that isn’t a special “Target” edition seems to come out elsewhere in time. It’s just a way to bring traffic to an individual store chain, it’s a promotional tactic. The big reason I think we’ll get them later is because there’s no inclination on the boxes that they’re retailer exclusives. No Target logo on Rosalina, no GameStop logo on Shulk, no Toys R Us logo on Lucario. Not even a little sticker is stuck on, so they’re ready to be reproduced without any changes to be sold everywhere. It’ll probably come in a re-release wave with the other harder to find ones (Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, etc). I’ve been waiting on getting the ones I’ve missed because they’re sure to re-release a lot of them, Marth already being confirmed for re-release.
Wow! I completely forgot about that! You must be correct. Why would they release the Smash Rosalina only once if there is a Mario Party 10 version coming? That must mean that they will make them “retail exclusive” for a short time like Whirlwind! Then they will be everywhere soon. Thanks, Azaria!
