Capcom has announced Monster Hunter Stories for Nintendo 3DS. The publisher has also released an announcement trailer for the forthcoming role-playing game, which focuses on a young boy who hops on a winged creature to outrun a larger monster that seems to be after some sort of egg. 1. They DON’T release every year. Remakes do not count as new games. And the new games ARE new enough to be called new games, you know, unlike 99% of FPS.

            1. Also when these “remakes” release new forms/mega evolutions not compatible with older games requiring anyone who wants to stay relevant with the series to buy the newest game they will be counted as a new entry. Oh wait, they do that.

  1. “which focuses on a young boy who hops on a winged creature to outrun a larger monster that seems to be after some sort of egg”

…..Dude….He’s very clearly being chased by a Tigrex and hops on a miniature Rathalos….getchur facts straight mang.

  2. Looks like what fantasy life should have been (or fantasy life 2), but I’ll take it and add it to my never ending selection of amazing handheld games on Nintendo’s amazing devices. If it’s worthy and available where I B!

    1. I’m pretty sure the reason FL 2 is on mobile is because of Yokai Watch Busters. It plays in a similar way.

    1. jajaaj that running was just for the mini Cut scene. and to tell you a story. and it now RPG more like a single Story/character and you u can use mount like many rpg game.
i really like this way. and how it look.

  3. If it looks anything like the end of the trailer, I’m sold. Not sure if it was in game at the end, but it kinda looked like it.

    1. on 3ds, even if it is in game, it’ll be lower res on the 3ds, yah it’ll look good, but as good as the trailer

      1. This game is cell shaded, so they could easily pull that off with the 3DS. Of course not the first half of the trailer, but towards the end it looked like it was in game.

  4. I hope this gets localized even if I have to wait ’til 2017.

Now if only Nintendo and Capcom make Monster Hunter U.

    1. Really? You see this as a rehash? Even though this game looks completely different from the rest of the Monster Hunter games? And when it clearly has a different style of gameplay?

      Yep. Sure thing. Rehash.

      1. How many MH games have we had recently? Just because it’s on Nintendo platform you don’t see it as a rehash.

        1. But your claiming rehash on a trailer for a game that is clearly different from the rest….if this was an announcement for MH5, It would be hard to argue…but this is a clearly new venture, with heavy emphasis on the RPG aspect of the game.

        2. Rehash means a game that comes out that is just the same thing as the previous entry to the same franchise.

Ex:) CoD, Fifa, Madden. They usually don’t add anything except for newer graphics and mechanics that go mostly unnoticeable and feel almost identical to their previous entry. The games are also released in-between very short time intervals to capitalize on earning money.

This game looks nothing like the previous entry into the Monster Hunter series and looks like it will be a standalone game. Definitely not rehash. They are just using the Monster Hunter name to sell a product, which, is not a “bad” thing.

    2. This is not a rehash, it’s actually the complete opposite. It’s the first of it’s kind! haha!! You CoD fanboys will try anything to defend your shitty fps’s…

    1. That’s like saying Mario Kart is a rehash of the Mario platforms. Believe it or not, a mascot is allowed to advertise two completely different games. I know, it’s a weird idea if you only get other consoles and therefore only FPS’s, but it’s true.

Dang it I fed the troll. At least I can put my popcorn to good use.

P.S The other console thing was a joke I respect the other consoles and know there are tons of good non FPS games on there. Also, I usually don’t get involved in arguments unless someone is making a REALLY dumb and false argument, like an RPG being a rehash of an action game. If there was a MH5U, then I would be complaining that it’s a rehash also.

    2. There is nothing wrong with milking if a company can keep up the quality, originality and fun factor.

If milking leads to a loss in any of those gaming attributes, the it becomes a problem.

I hate when people use “milking” as a detriment. Milking is only bad under specific conditions.

It’s like saying sunlight is bad, because you can burn and get cancer, but if you utilize it correctly, you can absorb essential vitamin D and earn a healthy tan. Under certain conditions sunlight can be bad, but under other conditions it is perfectly healthy and preferable to no sunlight at all.

    3. you are retarded. they may be milking the Monster Hunter name but this game is a whole new thing. this is clearly a full on RPG set in the Monster Hunter universe with completely different visuals and completely gameplay and mechanics. unlike Call of Duty which basically just throws in maybe one new mechanic to what was already there, wrap it up in a slightly different story and finish off with almost always the same visuals. dude you need to take you stupidity somewhere where it actually matters

  5. It looks like a Nintendo version of the game. The graphics are less realistic and more cartoony, it looks like it might be an easier game overall. I like how it looks though, it’s a different variation of the game. I’ll definitely have to pick it up.

  6. Absolutely beautiful. Maybe this will be the Monster Hunter series I could get into. Also, that dudes hoodie is epic.

  7. I love this game already. For some reason I have a bad feeling about it being localised though.. We never got Final Fantasy Explorers, and I doubt we will get this. Fingers crossed though.

      1. I was under the impression it was absolutely NOT coming to the west. Unfortunately. I really wanted to play that game.

        1. Nah man, that can’t be! Hopefully we’ll hear something at the next game expo or event. Have faith!!!!

  8. Capcom is going to take advantage of the success they are having on the 3ds. Monster Hunter 4 has sold SEVEN Million copies in total. And that number is still climbing. Capcom will not just leave those kind of sales behind to jump on another platform.

    1. It doesn’t need to leave one platform for another but it could have been multiplatform. Japan is infamous for third party exclusives though. *shrug*

  10. Asked me about 3 months ago I wouldn’t have cared but now after trying MH4U, hell yes I want more MH games.

  11. It looks interesting and definitely will be something I keep my eye on. I don’t like the MH series because it’s too slow, but this may be a spin off I really like.
