On their official Facebook page, Guitar Hero Live has announced their first chunk of songs for their upcoming game. As soon as you look at the list, you can tell they’ve moved quite a lot from the ‘Classic Rock’ you mostly got in the original games, with hits from the Top 40 charts making an appearance. In their behind the scenes trailer, they said they wanted to focus on more broad music genres, which they definitely seem to be doing. Holy shit is that a terrible selection of artists.
I am 30 and I don’t know a single song on that list. Recognise some of the artists. This goes to show this game isn’t really being made for my generation
No, true, and in my case I have no idea what’s going on in the western music world any more. It’s all American Poop Idol to me, it’s not very interesting and not good. All the good oldies are either dying or retiring. How sad.
I’m gonna guess there will either be no Japanese songs or they’ll be DLC, OR, Japan will make a Guitar Freaks Wii U, which was a game series that came before Guitar Hero btw. That would be so much more interesting to me. Of course I’m talking about their rock bands, not the boy band and girl band shit.

Current gen populat music is a pile of crap. Music Theory and History say so. This game is a pile of crap. At least before this kids playing guitar hero would be introduced to music requiring talent instead of good looks and a songwriting staff. It would have been great had they included some current gen bands that were original sounding.
I hope they put something from Fitz and The Tantrums…. Love that band.

It’s missing bands like Metallica that people love and know.
That’s just the first batch of songs, it’s not like this is the entire list of songs that will be available in the whole game.
People need to calm down a bit.
Guitar hero is about shredding on a plastic guitar and being a Rockstar. these songs are all vocally driven with the actual music taking a back seat. The guitar work itself in the songs I recognize are nothing chords played in 8th notes in a 4/4 time signature. Rock Band Wil get my money.

Haha! I don’t know any of these songs. That isn’t to say that is a bad thing and I understand GH needs to up with the times and what not however, it makes me feel old. xD
I don’t actually listen to rock music, so I didn’t expect to know any of these songs. I’m still interested in Rock Band though. It looks cool! I’ve never played it before.
So they are making a guitar hero which it was based on guitars must awesome guitar players to create a game with music the guitars sucks way too low for my taste I want a guitar hero with awesome guitar solos this is crappie game with pop music that don’t deserve to be cold Guitar Hero just crappy hero

Ghost writing for One Direction and heartfelt lyrics do not put you on the same level as Beethoven or John Coltrane.
