Nintendo Wii U: Two New Sonic Games Currently Being Developed For Wii U?

Online gaming publication TSSZNews is reporting that Sega are preparing two Sonic games for Wii U. The first game is Sonic Generations, which will be making its debut on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this Christmas. The second game is an entirely new Sonic title developed for Wii U. Maybe we will hear more about these games at this weeks Tokyo Game Show.

Regarding the prospects of a Wii U Generations port, our source indicates Sega could prepare it for the system’s launch sometime next year, but only if sales of existing versions far exceed Sega’s internal expectations.  Even if that doesn’t pan out, the source says there indeed is a Sonic in the works for the system, and it is likely another secondary title.  If that holds, it would continue Sega’s strategy of keeping primary fare on XBOX 360 and PS3, while Nintendo consoles get their own unique games.

Nintendo 3DS: Sega Believes PlayStation Vita Will Be Able To ‘Do Much More’ Than The Nintendo 3DS

Mike Hayes, Sega West’s CEO, recently spoke to VG247 about a range of topics concerning Sega. Interestingly enough Hayes believes that Sony’s PlayStation Vita is going to be able to do a lot more than the Nintendo 3DS from a hardcore gamers perspective, though he confesses that they are both ‘two completely different beasts’.

“We see the platforms as very different. 3DS, let’s be honest, the hardware didn’t sell as well as expected, so the price moved,” he said. “It’s just a very sensible market reaction I think for Nintendo to do and, obviously, we’re very pleased with that. I think Vita and 3DS are two completely different beasts in terms of what I think Vita is going to be able to do from a more core gaming point of view.

Nintendo: New Nights Into Dreams Game Coming From Sega?

Yuji Naka, the former head of Sonic Team and Takashi Iizuka have hinted to NightsIntoDreams that there’s a possibility that a brand new Nights game may come to an unannounced platform. Sadly it was only a hint, and nothing definite has been announced, but it would be fantastic if we received another Nights game. Please make it happen Sega.

Naka: In the NiGHTS world there is only five Ideya. There were various other concepts and elements that didn’t make it into the final product.
Iizuka: But they are still saved for another project.

Nintendo Wii: Sonic And The ….. Coming Soon According To Sega Rep

Destructoid has learned that Sega is planning to bring out another of the Sonic and the… games sometime later this year. We’ve already had Sonic and the Secret Rings and Sonic and the Black Knight on the Wii, and hopefully we’re getting another one. Seeing as Wii owners have missed on Sonic Generations, this will no doubt come as a welcomed surprise. Apparently Sega are looking to make the games into a trilogy. Any guesses on the next games title?

Nintendo Wii U: Sega Praises Wii U Hardware

Gary Dunn, director of European development for Sega, firmly believes that the Wii U is a “good platform to develop for”. Dunn also told online gaming publication Eurogamer that Sega aren’t simply looking to port their existing franchises across to Nintendo’s new system, but are interested in creating new, original content that will fully utilise the systems unique controller. What would you love to see Sega bring to the Wii U?

“We wouldn’t [do that]. Clearly the new control mechanic allows some asymmetrical gameplay which we’re quite excited about – to leverage that when we’re looking to put any game on that system.”

Nintendo Wii U: Sega Bringing High Definition Sonic To Wii U

Sega has officially announced that it’s bringing its spiky blue mascot to Nintendo’s forthcoming Wii U console. Whilst this isn’t the most surprising news ever, it will come as good news to the millions of Sonic fans out there. Sega wouldn’t touch upon what they plan to do with the system, but they’re specifically looking to put the controller to good use. Do you think think it will be a port of Sonic Generations, or a brand new Sonic game entirely?

Nintendo Wii U: Sega Say Wii U Will Be Out Either In The Spring Or Summer Next Year

Sega’s executive vice president of marketing Alan Pritchard may have just given away the release timeframe for Nintendo’s forthcoming Wii U console. Pritchard was asked if there is a chance of Sonic Generations coming to Wii U with which he replied “The timing just doesn’t work. Generations releases this November, and the Wii U is coming out next spring/summer.” We already know the console won’t launch until after April 2012, but it’s great to know Nintendo are gearing up for a spring/summer release for the highly anticipated console. Excited?

Nintendo Wii: Sonic Generations Was Cancelled On The Nintendo Wii Due To Graphical Limitations

Believe it or not Sega cancelled the fantastic looking Sonic Generations for the Nintendo Wii due to the systems graphical constraints. Sonic Team believe that the game “wasn’t a good fit” for Sega’s concept of “reimagining the series’ classic zones in vivid, high-definition graphics.” Clearly this will come as a disappointment for many considering the huge Sonic fan base on the Nintendo Wii. Do you think Sega was right to cancel Sonic Generations for Wii?

“The primary goal for the console versions of Generations was reimagining the series’ classic zones in vivid, high-definition graphics. The Wii hardware wasn’t a good fit for that concept, so we abandoned development on that, and decided that for our Nintendo audience, we would make a fresh start with a N3DS version of Generations.”

Nintendo: Mario & Sonic 2012 Won’t Use Wii MotionPlus According To Sega

Rather surprisingly Sega has revealed that Mario And Sonic At The London 2012 Olympics won’t use Nintendo’s Wii MotionPlus accessory to make the games actions that little bit more precise. So what’s the reasoning behind this? Well, the game’s producer Eigo Kasahara believes that there just aren’t enough consumers with the Wii MotionPlus accessory to make it worth including it in the game. Would you have preferred Sega to implement Wii MotionPlus controls or is the standard Wii Remote fine?

”The main reason is that we wanted to make this game the perfect multiplayer, party-time experience. We don’t think that many people have four MotionPlus controllers so we didn’t want to limit the gaming experience.”

- Eigo Kasahara, Sega
