Legendary games designer Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed that he’s hard at work developing a brand new entry in the Super Mario Brothers series for Nintendo’s forthcoming 3DS console
“In the interests of adopting new technology for the Super Mario Bros. tradition, I am now making a new Super Mario Bros. game for the Nintendo 3DS system.”

@Nintendo Lee LOL! I wont be getting any side-scrolling Mario game, as I didn’t like New Super Mario Bros. Wii, when I read the title on this page my heart sank but then realised it meant a ‘new’ Super Mario Bros. game for 3DS (how confusing).
I will get a Mario game thats like Galaxy (I mean 3D and not side-scrolling), but I hope it’s not like galaxy but a whole new experience in autostereoscopic 3D, I will buy that in a heart beat!
They already confirmed they have plans to make a side-scroller Mario (NSMB style) game AND one with a fully 3D world (Galaxy style). They’re doing it to appeal to both spectrums of the fanbase. Some like side-scroller, some like full 3D; others like both.
Um, titles a little misleading. I thought it meant a third game in the NSMB series, it just means a new mario game for the 3DS.

Isn’t the super mario brothers series only side-scrolling games?
So Im pretty sure a new mario bros. game means New Super Mario bros. 3DS. Can’t imagine how side-scrolling would work in 3d. And since trailers are not in 3D, I won’t know for sure before it comes out.

Sweet! I can’t wait for it. Although, I hope the environment are slightly different this time. The Wii version’s environments were identical to the DS version.
But I definitely want them to continue this series. I hope for online play, that would be tight! :D

I’m really excited to hear of this new Super Mario Bros. game in development. I am a big fan of New Super Mario Bros. for the DS and am really looking forward to this new game for the 3DS when it comes out.
I’m also really hoping the Mario Vs. Luigi multiplayer game from the New Super Mario Bros. on the DS is in this new game. That little multiplayer game was so fun and addicting. I’d love for it to be in the new game and be able to play it against random players over Wi-Fi.
