There’s a rumour floating around the Internet that the entire list of twenty free Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console games has leaked onto the Internet. To me the list looks rather dubious, but I’ll let you guys make up your own mind. What do you think? A fanboys dream, or legitimate?

    1. I don’t know. Pokemon Emerald and Twisted are ringing alarm bells. Can’t see either of them happening… We’ll see.

    1. Battle Frontier, better story, re-battling gym leaders. Emerald is better than Ruby and Sapphire put together. It’s the best of both worlds and it adds more, as with all third games in a generation.

      1. Yeah… until you realize you can’t trade/battle with anybody or have any sort of communication with your friends. It makes zero sense to have any main Pokemon game on VC, imo.

        1. It’s going to support multiplayer with NES games, why wouldn’t they allow online/local trading. But I totally think it’s fake.

  1. Would they do pokemon emerald? That would be the one I play the least. If I want to play it, I would play the original with all my lv.100 pokémon.

    The rest looks pretty neat.

  2. The Pokémon Emerald throws me off. Everything else is the super-classic very Nintendo-ish. And then Pokémon. I know Nintendo owns it, but it’s just never felt as ingrained in Nintendo history as everything else on that least (at least in terms of how I feel).

That said, I kind of hope it’s true. I own a surprisingly small amount of these games because it’s not been more than a few short years since I realised how good Nintendo are at making portable games.

  3. I don’t really think they’d give pokemon emerald version (one of the best pkmn games ever by the way) that easily. Such a game would take up a lot of space, plus it would sell like crazy if included in the Virtual Console. So yeah, it might be fake…

  4. This is great, BUT!

Nintendo says, if I remember correctly, that these free GBA games won’t be on sale in the future. So it’s kinda unlikely that Minish Cap is on the list, maybe a few other games too. Unfortunately.

    1. i actually think i read that they WOULD be putting the games on sale later on in the future, but they will have updates on them, like new colors or better graphics(as good as they could get them) & ppl who got them via Ambassador, would be able to upgrade them. I actually think i read that info from the Nintendo of America tweet. and(not to be a jerk or bash you, because i could be wrong, but) i believe i read that minish cap, or a gba game would be a free download in the future. i would imagine they want ppl to get into downloading games, even if they have to give out a few free no-brainer-selling, games.

  5. This has to be made up, right? For starters, I’ve heard of all the games. Surely Nintendo would chuck in a couple of unknowns to get people interested?

    1. idk if SMB3 was confirmed, but that would be EPIC! i know they have yoshi’s island confirmed(i think they said it was super mario advance 3). i didn’t hear anything about the Kirby game, but that would be sick. i beat the 3.99 downloadable game in about 30 mins. good game, but it wasn’t as hard as it was when i was 8 and easily frustrated! #thankyouyearsofgaming

    1. Eh, then you likely won’t EVER get the GBA games at least. Nintendo has said they currently have no plans to make them available to the general public. Not that that will never change, but as of now, these are “Ambassador” only titles, and if you don’t have a 3DS by now, you’re not an Ambassador.

  7. I’ll have to double-check this but I recall reading somewhere that Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 was one of the choices for GBA games and it’s not on this list. Either this is fake or I got some bad info.

  8. I’m VERY excited for these games. I haven’t played like ANY of those NES games (started at the GameCube era) except SMB, SMB 2, and Ice Climber. And the GBA games, Mario Kart SC, and Pokemon Emerald bring back memories, like when I ran from a shiny marill and my cousin FLIPPED. Plz let this list be real!!! Of course, it kinda a waste for Emerald because were getting remakes in a couple of years, but whatever.

      1. Actually, after ruby and sapphire, they remade the first generation. After diamond and pearl, they remade the second generation. So after black and white, it would be consistent if they remade the third generation (ruby and sapphire)

        1. You’re right, but keep in mind, Emerald came out (I don’t know if it was before green or red), then Platinum came out (Gold and Silver came after that one) so we’ll have to wait until grey comes out… probably

  9. Pokemon Emerald? That’s never gonna happen. If they wanted to give out a free Pokemon game, it would be older or they’d give out Ruby/Saphire instead of Emerald. But either way, I don’t think they wouldn’t give out a Pokemon game for free like that when they could get much more money because people WILL buy it.

    1. Yellow has less of a point than Emerald, in my opinion. Fans are producing rumors and wishes that Ruby and Sapphire will be remade, like they did for Red, Green/Blue, Gold, and Silver. Having Emerald in there is still a long shot, but in my opinion Game Freak is just “prepping” fans for the remakes by re-releasing Emerald if the list is true.

  10. I REALLY hope this isn’t true. Two WarioWare games is pretty cheap so when there’s so many other awesome GBA games. Of course, Minish Cap would be greatly appreciated, and I don’t really want Pokemon Emerald. Seems a waste of a slot with the inevitable Ruby/Sapphire remakes eventually coming.

NES list seems predictable, but I just REALLY hope that GBA list isn’t true. I would be very disappointed. Where’s Mario Advance 2? Where’s Mario Advance 4? Where’s Golden Sun? Gutted.

  11. whats bothering me is that some of the games are snes games… i think nintendo would have announced it of there were going to be any snes games

  12. Pokemon Emerald would be awesome if it was true :D Also 3 Zelda games, if it was all true I wouldn’t feel bad for buying a 3DS early before the price cuts XD

  14. No zero mission if this is real why is nintendo completely ignoring the best metroid gba game on metroids 25th anniversary? Don’t get me wrong fusion is great but zero mission just registered better when i had a Sp, god i remember when i thought playing in the dark without a light attachment was amazing! Man technology has grown….

    1. I know! Zero Mission is epic! But since I already have Zero Mission on the GBA I’m happy with Fusion on the 3DS… ;)

  15. My fingers are crossed that they actually pick 15 NES games and 15 GBA games and allow us Ambassadors to pick our favorite 10 of each. That way we can better avoid getting games we already have a million times over :)

I love Zelda – but both NES versions I’ve had multiple times, Same with the two NES Mario games (I prefer the versions collected in Mario All Stars anyway.)

On GBA – I’d forgo the Pokemon game.

I should note – I NEVER heard of Super Mario Ball – until I googled it and found out that’s the Europe name. In North America – it’s Mario Pinball Land. I’m excited to give this a go, never did play it before – however at least we can deduce that if this is “real” this is the European version of the list…

    1. Wow, that pretty much confirms that it’s fake. They’ve got Super Mario Ball, the European name of a game, and WarioWare Twisted which wasn’t released in Europe at all. Nintendo wouldn’t mix that up.

  16. As much as I want it, Minish Cap can’t be a part of the list. Remember, the Gba games won’t be released to the public. Nintendo would be a fool to not put that game on sale. The other confirmed games aren’t as big as Zelda. You have an out of date Kart game (which will get a new game if a few months) and a remake of a Mario game. The only game that sticks out is Metrioid Fusion. I’m surprised they didn’t pick Zero Mission. All in all, I’m (along with everyone else here) calling shenanigans.

  17. If someone already asked this, I’m sorry… I really didn’t feel like reading through everyone’s post. Are the NES games supposed to be in 3D, like the two available “NES” games? That’s be kind of awesome.

  18. this better be true … minish cap! *-* and i’m not surprised seeing pokemon emerald (if it really is true), but as you can’t trade pokemon and stuff, i guess there’s no big deal in playing it in my opinion.

  20. Now, when was Super Mario Bros. 3 confirmed? I remember it was posted as a rumor.

Anyways, my feelings on the 10 rumoured games on this list are somewhat mixed. The NES games are great! But the GBA games aren’t that great to me. I’d rather have TLOZ: A Link to the Past, Golden Sun, and Fire Emblem…

  21. This is more like a wish list. A main Pokemon game and Minish Cap are two of the most requested GBA games, so it’s kind of hard to believe. I do hope they include Fire Emblem though.

  22. i don’t really care for zelda 2, but i’d still play/beat it! idk if i’d be stoked for pokemon emerald, but i’m a pokefan to heart, so i’d still rock the **** out of the game. i’d rather have pokemon yellow, because i felt like i was REALLY in the show, as Ash. pokemon pinball would be a sick download, even to purchase… but idk if this list is real & if it is real fantastic. i was almost more excited about the 10 they did release and confirm, then these added/supposed 10 that are rumored

  23. We couldn’t have warioware twisted because nintendo themselves said peripheral devices wouldn’t be supported on gba games. That plus the fact that emerald would be half as fun because of no wireless features makes me sure that this is fake.

  24. The point of Pokémon is the trading aspect and that’s been updated for a strong online service. I don’t see Emerald being on the list unless it was updated to work with the current games, ie. you’d connect your 3DS Pokémon game to Emerald and transfer Pokémon.

It looks like a pretty awesome list, it makes me feel envious to those who got the 3DS already.

  26. replace Pokemon Emerald with Pokemon FireRed and Super Mario Ball with Sonic Advance and I’d have absolutely no problem with this list

    1. Emerald is the more logical choice, as it is the middle ground for the versions, and If just FireRed was put up, the LeafGreen guys would feel left out, and it would make it weird if Nintendo ever decided to put out The original games for Gameboy. Although I would completely agree with Sonic Advanced, i think they would have some licensing issues.

  29. Zelda 2, Mario 2, and Kirby’s Adventure don’t seem likely.
Minish Cap and Kirby seem like a good fit and even Pokemon if we had a trade system, which I doubt it’ll recieve

  30. I hope this isn’t 100% real. I like most of the games, but I’d rather not have two WarioWare games. Also, I don’t think Pokemon Emerald’s gonna make it. I actually hope it doesn’t, because I already have the actual game. I’d like a game I haven’t played before.

Now how awesome would it be if they put Earthbound up?

  31. Only one Pokemon game? And it’s the crappiest one out of them all, too! We want Red/Blue/Yellow as well as Gold/Silver/Crystal!

  32. I would LOVE to get Super Mario Bros 2. I know the history but I’ve a fond memory of nostalgia with that game, but I cry bullcrap with Pokemon Emerald, making the whole list seem like someone made it up. For one thing, Nintendo created Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Kid Icarus, Kirby, etc. Isn’t Pokemon technically a third-party exclusive, especially if Game Freak says they’ll make a game for smart phones? The list also mentions WarioWare Twisted being updated with 3DS motion controls. The press release said that when all the games are available in the eShop, updated versions will come out later. I call 3DS motion controls an updated version.

  34. The NES list is a good guess that will probs turn out true but the GBA list is a load of crap… 2 Warioware games WONT happen, Mario Bros 3 was admitted as a mistake when Mario ADVANCE 3 was intended, Pokemon Emerald is very unlikely with the Ruby/Sapphire remakes expected soonish in Japan and Super Mario Ball is just WRONG…
Give me that NES list certainly but I’d guess the GBA list will more likely have Minish Cap and Kirby, along with F-Zero, Mario and Luigi and either Advance Wars or Fire Emblem

  35. These games i can guarantee are real i got a message on my 3ds the ones that are for sure coming out on the 3ds are

    NES:
    Super Mario Bros.
    Donkey Kong Jr.
    Balloon Fight.
    Ice Climber.
    The Legend of Zelda.

    GBA:
Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3.
    Mario Kart: Super Circuit.
    Metroid Fusion.
    WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$
    Mario vs. Donkey Kong.

    these are all confirmed.

  36. Pokemon Emerald wouldn’t work out because people are gonna want to transfer their pokemon to their generation 4 (or 5 games since it’s the most current generation right now) games, and I don’t think nintendo would provide a function in order to do that. However, you never know since nintendo always surprises us all the time.

  37. I really hope pokemon emerald (or ruby or sapphire, for that matter) is one of the games available for the virtual console. Hoenn is the only PKMN region I haven’t explored yet.

  38. there is no way pokemon emarald is for free along with metroid is for free its like saying bango kazooie nuts and bolts is a good game sorry fanboys…

  39. i wish it was true but its not but the legand of zelda oracle of ages and oracle of seasons but i dont think they are free they were alredy downloaded on my 2ds when i got it off of ebay
