Bernd Fakesch, General Manager of Nintendo Germany has told news publication Reuters that he expects a huge holiday season for Wii. With the price cut, the newly redesigned Wii and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword coming November 18th it’s pretty hard to argue with that.
“We have seen an enormous increase in sales since [the price cut] and this gives us another indication of what will happen in the Christmas season.”
Agreed. :]
Redesigned Wii? Does that mean the Family Edition? The one that’s not backwards compatible? :| The design was great but I think they just removed the gamecube features just so it could get cheaper…
Probably. But the people who buy it are probably going to be new families with 5-8 year olds. Those kids probably never heard of the gamecube before.
Most will be people re-buying the Wiis they sold (cus I KNOW a lot of people did it.) only for Skyward Sword.
Lol I sold mine the begining of 09 and then I bought the black one last spring for nsmb, dkcr, smg2 and because I heard skyward sword would be coming out in the future.
I’ not quite sure, I mean most of people who will buy Skyward Sword probably already have Wii and other might wait for the WiiU. And is the redesign Wii really worth it? Although I think that the 3DS might sell good.
Great news. Our favourite company will get some moneyz! :D
it won’t, nintendog failed this time. my wii is already in a ditch and i wont ever ever buy a new one accept for the wiiU(maybe) i think the 3ds will sell good just cuz its price dropped 100$ but the game line up sucks, i’m still stuck with Resident evil. and skyward sword? i will be using a emulator for that damnit!
It’s not even Christmas yet so how has Nintendo already failed. Not to mention, the lineup of upcoming games are fantastic. What are you talking about?
I think it’s more of a failure on your part, Levi; not looking for games.
There are plenty of awesome games on the Wii, I bought my console on launch day and have never regretted it.
Good luck using an emulator on Skyward Sword.
lols i know, so pitiful when people use emulatros…. REAL CONSOLE ALL THE WAY :D
Obvious troll is obvious.
This could possibly mean the wiiU will be released late 2012, or even 2013.
bah. maybe in europe the wii will be huge, but here? nope. we only get zelda. whereas europe gets Xenoblade, Zelda, AND the Wii Slim (though i don’t care about the slim wii).
i personally think the 3DS will be huge. its got like 5 superepichappyawesome games coming, and its finally in red!
America might be getting Xenoblade, as well as the wii slim, no one ever said they won’t. Especially Xenoblade. NOA even said they’d bring it over here based on the PAL sales >_>
Hey! I have a way that the Wii can succeed in NA! Its called Xenoblade Chronicles!
I have a feeling they might release this after Skyward Sword. I dunno, it’s a strong feeling.
Not trying to rain on the OR parade or anything, I’m just wondering how many ppl would actually get Xenoblade. Us core players yell the loudest so obviously the ppl who’ve been keeping up with the story would get it, but to me, and I’m no casual playing either, it honestly seems like more FF type stuff, which just hasn’t been too popular as of late. I don’t mean that in any kind of way and I’m not trying to compare the two, just curious about the actual market the game would garner here in the States.

I agree but I think everyone or most people have the Wii by now. It did sold a lot of systems.
Nintendo should be hoping that not alot of people buy the wii this christmas because if they do that means they probably wont spend money again the next year on a wii U because they’ll be like “well we’ve just bout a new wii, whats the point of getting a wii U?”
That’s what I was thinking, releasing the slim wii at christmas could potentially damage future Wii U sales
Potentially sure, but I highly doubt. A new Nintendo console always generates so much excited in a way that’s unique from other consoles… I dunno, maybe I’m just being a fanboy but I think the Wii U will have enough “cool factor” to make ppl get it regardless, especially if it has a smart price point and good multi-functionality

i dont think people will buy wii because many may prefer waiting for wii u (like me).
but zelda fans will buy it because they cannot wait for wii u.
