Dreamfall Chapters lead developer Ragnar Tornquist says that there’s a chance that the adventure title could come to Wii U. The team are looking to bring the game to PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but confess that the Wii U could be a problem due to its lack of power. However, the developers are in dialogue with Nintendo and they are going to consider bringing the game to the platform, if it’s possible.
“We are also in dialogue with Nintendo. We’re going to be looking at it. We can’t make any promises because the Wii U, it’s underpowered compared to the next-gen consoles and PC obviously. I don’t think that’s a secret or Nintendo would get upset at me.
“We’re going to look at getting the game running on Wii U and then we’ll make decisions depending on how that goes and what we see the market possibilities are doing. Like I said, we don’t want to exclude anything, so we’ll try anything.”

This whole graphics talk is kinda silly with people forgetting the facts. Graphics are only as good as the developers make them and to get the graphics as good as some of these new games like killzone,destiny, it takes years and a lot of money to develop so either one of two things are going to happen ,game cost go up or graphics go down. I believe the second because higher game cost means people buy less games and this gen will be the first to actually make worse games as time goes on where the wiiu will get better. This is a short summary but comment issues with this and I can try to explain better.

Indeed. Graphics are important but over rated. You only need to ask yourself what did you prefer the DS or the PSP and Why. The Wiiu is to PS4 graphically what the 3DS is to Vita. The 3DS is capable of producing excellent visuals even compared to Vita graphics. And the same applies to Wiiu when comparing to the PSfaux.

Not that I’m deliberately trying to be a dick but in the interest of fairness, Monolith’s X and Mario Kart 8 are not proof that the Wii U could run ‘ a lot next gen games’. X does indeed look nice and expansive but I can’t say I can honestly see anything that couldn’t be done on an Xbox 360 or PS3. Mario Kart 8 does indeed look very pretty, I’m very excited about it. However, it is a comparatively small game in terms of environment size. Therefore although it looks pretty, verging on next gen, that’s still no real indication that the Wii U could run something like Destiny or Killzone Shadow Fall to use two obvious examples. Perhaps it could, but those two games don’t prove that

That’s an IF, and you might be right, but I certainly think X could be done on the PS3 or 360. I think you’d be hard pressed to argue that the Wii U isn’t under powered when compared to the PS4 or Xbox One. Just look at the specs side by side, they don’t compare favourably. At the end of the day if it has good games then it doesn’t matter. What does matter with regards to lack of power, is driving third party developers away because they think the Wii U won’t be able to handle their games. The Wii U is in dire need of third party support and Nintendo constantly make this same mistake. The games coming out on Wii U look great, no doubt, I’ll enjoy and am already enjoying many of them. However, it’s a simple fact that you’ll never get good third party support if your hardware doesn’t stand up to the competition (unless of course your system sells like hot cakes as the Wii did, then third parties will throw themselves at you no matter how under powered your system is!)
Of course they are more powerful than the wii u no doubt about that , but I am pretty sure at a 720p resulotion they could port the games to it , and I insist that x can’t be made on the ps3 and the 360 .
It’s possible that some games could run downscaled to native 720p, some textures would probably take a hit as would v-sync and possibly you’d experience some screen tear too but yes I’d say you’re right. One last thing on X is that we’re basing the assumptions from seeing a brief minute long trailer. Graphically that can certainly be done on 360 and PS3, the only thing that would it couldn’t be done is the size of the environments, which, although I’m sure they will be big, we don’t know that yet, all we’re basing it on is shots compiled in a trailer.

Ive bought nothing but WII games after I bought it, and skipped all the ps360 games lol!

IF Nintendo has this “conversation,” and can indeed prove to them that the WiiU CAN handle their title, then it could be the slow beginnings of Dev’s realizing that their initial assumptions that the WiiU won’t run their software are worth taking a second look at.
the More of these titles Nintendo can score, the more they can quiet down the “underpowered” complaints and teach Devs to code more efficiently.

I’ve never played any of their games, but heard great things about them. I certainly hope the strike a deal and produce a game or two for us Nintendo folk.
Having just saw the trailer, the developers are misinformed. The Wii U can already handle more detailed graphics than this game smoothly. I expected something more advanced than what was presented.
It feels as if many developers are simply underestimating the power of the console by word of mouth. I realize in the long term, the Wii U will be uncapable of processing games of certain calibre, but from what we’ve been presented with, it looks to be a long way off.
This generation, more than ever, we appear to be limited by the capability of our consoles as well as developers’ ability to finance an absolutely stunning game. With what little hardware leap that the PS4 made, reportedly 600 employees and untold monies to produce just a brand new game for said console, it is apparent we won’t be seeing such advanced graphics so soon as we all had hoped.
Graphics is not the only advantage of extra processing power you know? Having a lot of juice can also produce better gameplay and developers not worrying about limiting themselves to different possibilities for the game.
I respect Nintendo for choosing the tablet over more power. But they themselves are having a hard time showing what the gamepad can bring to the table in terms of innovation. Plus their in house developers are still not used to HD graphics (Nintendo admitted to this on several articles). Just like what I said last time, it is Ubisoft who is doing all the creative stuff on the gamepad use. Nintendo has been apologizing time and time again for the mistakes made. I just watched Pikmin gameplay and I really hope that they will utilize more of the gamepad. That goes for Mario 3D and Kart as well. Yes, the games not out yet but from what we have seen, only off tv play really is a significant benefit.
Why can’t they use the gamepad as a rearview mirror for mario kart? Or bosses jump into the gamepad from time to time in pikmin and you have to solve the puzzle through it? How bout for Mario 3D, something simple as when choosing a power up from bonus stages or a chest you open it through your gamepad screen? Or princess peach trying to send letters to mario or gifts that will suddenly appear on the gamepad while playing?
LMAO yeah sony and ms NEED all that power to make a better gameplay experience! Nintendo doesnt need it. Thats why you can walk in2 any gamestop and find ALL the LATEST ps360 on the USED section by the dozens!!!! I’ve been to many gaming stores and in every single one of them they mostly had 360 and PS3 used games than Wii ones and the Wii ones were mostly non Nintendo games…
In one GAME store, there is literally 4 big boxes containing hundreds of Xbot games that includes their big franchises like Halo…
And 2-3 big boxes full of PS3 games with the same results…

For what i’ve seen, this game it’s an Unity game, that has the graphics in similar terms as Assasins Creed. So c’mon! Graphically this is not a “wow” game. It could run Perfectly on WiiU. So Developers! Stop Being Lazy.
