    1. The 3DS is on top, it might even sale the most Sonic lost world games in Japan. I would delay the 3DS version by two months in Japan, just so as the WiiU, PS3, Wii, PSP, PSVita, PSVita home console, xbox360 can have a little breather LOL.

    2. Nintendo better get the lead out and market the Wii U like no tomorrow this holiday season. They are quickly reaching the point of no return. The Wii U may suffer a similar fate as the Gamecube. While the Gamecube had tremendous titles all the way up until it was over, people had already moved on to other things which is why Gamecube console sales never picked up.

Nintendo’s entire marketing division needs to be fired and replaced.

      1. The Wii U is pretty much a lost cause this holiday season (in the West). Yeah, it will do better than average, but all systems do during that time. Unfortunately, the reality is that everything gaming related is going to get drowned out by the PS4 and Xbox One release. Not even Super Mario 3D World will give the system *that* much of a boost at this time.

2014 is make it or break it year for the Wii U though. With the biggest titles for the system coming out at that time, if it doesn’t see some serious movement with Mario Kart, Bayonetta, Super Smash Bros., etc., then Nintendo should really start to think about some serious changes that need to be made.

        1. Nintendo always does huge numbers in the holidays. I’ve worked in retail for over 10 years. I’ve seen it year in and year out. No matter what is going on Nintendo always cleans up. Not worried about the Wii U at all for the holidays. It will be far better than average. As much hype as the PS4 and XBOX One will get, in reality outside of the core gamers neither system will see a lot of sales because of the price points.

The question is what happens AFTER the holiday season. I definitely agree that 2014 will be the last chance the Wii U has. It is still salvageable but time is running out. Nintendo needs to answer questions to those whom are not interested in platformers and party games. For the people that want a 1st-person shooter, 3rd-person shooter, racing simulator, fighting game, mature-themed action adventure, professional sports game, survival-horror, and all the other genres I can’t think of the only answers that Nintendo has for 2014 are Smash Bros, X, Bayonetta 2, and Mario Kart 8.

Those are going to be good games but that is not nearly enough. With the NES, SNES, N64, and even the Gamecube Nintendo had a balanced approach touching all genres equally so that everyone got something. With a Wii U a lot of gamers are being left in the dark which is a major reason why the Wii U continues to sit on store shelves and it won’t start to move (after the holiday of course) until Nintendo understands that and does something about it. Even if it is to buy smaller independent studios and have them develop some of these titles for them so that they can concentrate on Zelda, Metroid, Starfox, etc.

BTW. What happened to Yoshi’s Yarn?

          1. Yoshi’s Yarn sometime in 2014, they said something like they need to do some rebalancing cause they didn’t want it to be too easy like Kirby’s Epic Yarn.

            1. No I didn’t. DK is a platformer and Nintendo is swimming in those right now. I’m talking about genres Nintendo ISN’T offering at the moment. For a person that would already own Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Sonic Lost World, Super Mario 3D World and Windwaker HD at that point adding DK would not be much of a bump up and it certainly isn’t going to attract any new gamers or fans of other genres.

          2. I actually agree with what you said there. Back in the day Nintendo used to make other types of games for the ones of us who aren’t interested in the Mario and whatnot games. (Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Conker, Eternal Darkness, 1080°, Wave Race, Excitebike 64, even the Star Wars games from the good relationship they had with Factor 5). But that was years ago. Nintendo started focusing on all these kids games and forgot about the rest of us who want something else. I was a loyal Nintendo fan but no more. I am moving on to other platforms where I can play the types of games that I like. To have a Wii U for a couple of games that might come out for it in a whole year is not worth it.

I want to buy games, I want to play games but the few games out there that appeal to me aren’t enough for me, Nintendo forgot about the rest of us. And if 3rd party developers aren’t going to fill in that gap bringing their triple A games to the Wii U, then the Wii U isn’t for me,(I would have loved to play GTA5) It is for the kids who are happy with Nintendo’s first party offerings.

            1. Well under Iwata Nintendo has become very inward-looking. I’m not sure they even know how to step outside of their niche market. That’s not a problem. If those other genres are not your thing that is okay. Just buy some small independent studios and have them make those games for you. Nintendo has the money, and there are plenty of companies that would love to do it.

I mean, I know you have a great relationship with Sega and everything but how do you let them buy Atlas right from under your nose? Why haven’t you bought and funded Shadow Of The Eternals? Why aren’t you buying Capcom? Why didn’t you take part in THQ’s fire sale? If you are trying to buy Rare back what’s taking so long and why would you let Killer Instinct get away from the deal? As much as Shin’en Games has looked-out for Nintendo publicly defending the specs of the Wii U, why aren’t they under the Nintendo umbrella, or at least more than they are. Stuff like that. These are very doable things.

Since Nintendo make more than enough money to survive on from the revenue of their 1st-party titles, why not allow 3rd-parties to develop for the Wii U for free? That would turn things around in a hurry. They would have to barricade the doors in Redmond to keep people from coming in looking to ink contracts.

        2. I think there is still hope. From what I’ve seen from the launch line up and from people. Nintendo still has some hope not many people will not upgrade right way more might next year or when more good games come out. Most people I’ve talked too will get the ps4 wii u. You can’t always read preorders as facts. True only one Nintendo game is coming near the holiday rush but its still a game that games people eye’s. Nintendo may do better the Microsoft maybe not as much as Sony. And i agree with the 2014 making it or breaking it for Nintendo.

          1. I don’t read pre-orders at all to that is a moot point to the conversation. As I stated earlier I’ve worked in retail for over 10 years. I know what people do with their money. Especially parents. Core gamers will line up to buy the PS4 and XBOX One simply because it’s new and it’s there. Nintendo will sell well because they always have sold well in the holiday and they do have a lot of games finally.

You are correct that like the Wii the Wii U is an “and” not an “or” which will also help in holiday Wii U sales. PS4 and XBOX One will sell out at some point and which there will be plenty of Wii U laying around. A lot of people will be purchasing a PS4/WiiU or XBOX One/Wii U combo. Not too many people will be buying a PS4/XBOX One combo.

Personally I will be picking up an XBOX One and call it day. I have no use for the Wii U until Nintendo shows me that it is interested in the type of games I like to play. The only games that I “know” is coming that I am interesting in for the Wii U are Mario Kart 8 and the new Zelda. Maybe Project X. That is all next year and beyond.

            1. i’m getting a ps4 when KH or one of my fav sony games come out. infamous is ok but its my fav. Knack looks interesting but it looks bland in gameplay. Killzone is my least fav sony game.XB1 the only game that i like is KI.I respect ur choice and opinion

              1. KI is the only reason I’m getting an XBone at launch Lord willing. Titanfall look interesting as well, but mainly it is Killer Instinct. As much as I have complained about the lack of a KI3 over the years I would be a mega-hypocrite not to buy it. I’ve literally waited for this game for half my life. It’s scary and surreal to actually say that.

                1. The sad thing is it may not do well since there has been a huge backlash. i really want to see more KI games.I’ll get if i get a XB1 just not at launch

                  1. There really shouldn’t be any backlash because the developers at Double Helix are literally giving the gamers what they ask for. I’ve never seen a game have so many changes due to consumer feedback. Anything questionable they change it. The game has changed so much (for the better) since e3.

I’m not concerned. The main people whining will be the main people playing it. The biggest complaints come from Sony fanboys anyway.

            2. i agree because i preorder both consoles but will not be getting them. several friends have done the same but changed their mind for the moment. preorder sales mean people who might buy it but might not buy it.

  1. Not really suprised japan didn’t really care much for the Oot remake either and that was on a handheld…which japan loves more the consoles. Plus japan has never been a big fans of HD remakes

      1. Plus monster hunter is out japan is addicted to that game more then anything right so don’t expect big sells from them. Trolls will use but will fail because they lack the knowledge that you shouldn’t always let japan be the final verdict. Your more likely to see more sells in UK or America

            1. I feel like it might sell better in America. I don’t know if lost world will help the wii u when a 3ds version is there. I’ll get both for sure just the wii u one first. The console version might sell better in America. And 3d world will rise sells i’m sure. Lots of people are getting or thinking about getting it now since that amazing trailer yesterday came out.

            2. It might sell better in US due to Japan’s history of hd remakes. Lost world in japan might not be as big as the handheld version the console version will sell in US more most likely. 3D World will help the wii u by a lot since most people now have warmed up to the game now. Dk country is in better postion because the holiday rush may ignore the game so far not many games come out in FEB, but who knows

  2. You know what? screw this site’s Media Create posts, I want to see numbers next to software sales… I’m off to GAF.

  3. The Japanese are smart, they also wanted a price drop. They are buying up Monster hunter and 3DS. The are a cultured people. They buy in modesty. They Know the 3DS/3DS XL is the greatest console at a very very very wise price. WOW! those monster hunter legs of Domination, NINTENDO ruling :).

    1. Dude, Nintendo is dominating with their handheld, but they need to focus on WiiU. That new Kirby games needs to be on the WiiU instead of the 3DS.

      1. Yoshi’s 3D yarn is releasing on the WiiU next year. The 3DS is just ” BEAST MODE “, like MARSHAWN LYNCH of the Seattle Seahawks.

  4. The Windwaker HD is at number 7, with 30, 264 copies sold. That is great news. A WiiU title of a game that was released 10 years ago is 7th. Look at the 3DS then realise, there is nothing in Japan touching it.

  5. Nintendo will release a new bundle with some amazing value, no one will buy a WiiU until oct 31, dont forget that XD

    1. 3DS is trying to get your attention. Also history called and wants to remind you that most Zelda games don’t really sell momentously in Japan.

  6. MONSTER HUNTER 4 SOLD 213,078 in its third week, are you kidding me. Capcom now has no choice but to bring all their great franchises to the 3DS first.

213,078 WOW! i had to highlight that again. That’s all the software on the WiiU,PS3,PSVita,PSVita home console, xbox360, Wii and PSP in Japan sold in the last month combined multiplied by 2.

  7. Pingback: Wiiu sells approximately 6000 in Japan with WW

  8. Not that they come out of your ass in the head, that no one wants the old games, to seek better graphics, but the new games. Wii U is doomed! No it does not want, the fans have bought, and that’s it! And now that they are crying because there is no game, it’s all for the kids to 5 years ..

  9. I told you guys the better the 3ds does the worst the Wii U does. People just see 3ds as the main console for Nintendo games, and right now all the way to the end of the year it will remain that way. There’s no reason to get a Wii U over a 3ds right now or this holiday season if you want quality and a large amount of new Nintendo games

    1. Why not both. plus its japan they are not fans of console gaming. Oot hd remake sold better because it was a handheld. From what I’ve seen hd collections on consoles don’t sell well in japan. look KH 1.5. it might do better in US and the UK

  10. Peanut Butter Kit Kat

Japan really isn’t a good indicator. Home console sales have been on the decline, The Wii and PS3 have only sold around 9M units each over there and Sony are even releasing the PS4 later in Japan as Europe and the US are the main markets these days.

  11. HAHAHAHHAHA!!!

What a joke this baby underpowered excuse of a console is. What happened? I thought the babies were saying when Zelda Wind Waker HD comes out it was going to start selling good, I guess not lololol. I thought the babies said that when the Wondeful 101 was released it was going to start selling good, I gues not lololol. I thought the babies said that when Pikmin 3 was released it was going to start selling good, guess not lololol. The 3 “system seller games” didn’t do their job lolol. Guess we have to wait more right? Till 2014 lololol.

Let’s hear what excuses the babies come out with now lololol.

        1. Peanut Butter Kit Kat

The fact that he likes to visit websites where he thinks that he’s talking to kids is more disturbing..

    1. pikmin was never a system seller to begin with. WF 101 wasn’t expected to move that much platinum’s games don’t sell that well to begin with (only one was bayonetta that sold well). You shouldn’t use japan as example use the US as more of example. From what I’ve seen most of the good games aren’t coming to 2014so everyone is waiting and people might wait on ps4 until mid 2014. I’m getting a ps4 when KH or my fav sony games come out

      1. Peanut Butter Kit Kat

I heard that Pikmin 3 could possibly be the best selling Pikmin game so far..

Didn’t Sega drop Bayonetta 2 due to poor sales of Bayonetta? I don’t think that it sold that well, it certainly bombed in Japan.

Seems like there’s a lot of flip-flopping going on regarding Mario World 3D right now… I think it could do pretty well over xmas. It’s also 720p 60fps confirmed.

    2. Nintendo fanboys dont know what they are talking about. It was obvious that w101, pikmin 3 and wwhd weren’t going to sell well the first 2 are just niche games that only fanboys that own a Wii U would buy (meaning no one is going to buy a Wii U for W101 or pikmin 3) and wwhd is just a lazy remake that was going to sell ok at most

      1. KHHD, MGSHD both of them failed in the TOP 10 indeed Zelda is a stronger franchise than those two…so, you tell me.

        1. I don’t care about khhd or mgshd I’m talking about wwhd and its still a lazy remake and on another article this guy was saying that w101 is a system seller, that the game is the best, and that it gets a 10/10 which is complete bullshit fanboy talk

          1. Zelda-series isn’t poppular in Japan, you’d have to wait for what 3D Mario does there.
Zelda is bigger in the west. From the sales estimate on the week ending Sep21, WiiU sold twice(~20k) what it normally did(~7-11k) in NA. The WWHD bundle was only sold for 2 days(Sep20 & 21) that week.

      2. Peanut Butter Kit Kat

To be fair I haven’t seen anyone say that Pikmin 3 and W101 were going to be system sellers..

If they did then they are deluded.

The only people i’ve seen to make this claim are Nintendo hating fanboys that hang around Nintendo related websites…

    3. ” I thought the babies were saying when Zelda Wind Waker HD comes out it was going to start selling good” Ignoring the we were RIGHT!!! It sold good at no. 7.

  12. They need to give Japan the price cut they gave everyone else… Thats why sales plummeted and are still doing poorly. Its a waiting game.

  13. Not even Wind Waker HD could save it? Yeah, the Wii U is definitely doomed. I’m glad that the 3DS is continuing to smash the ranks though. Now there is a premium console! The Wii U will still get some nice sales for Mario 3D World and Smash Bros, but this won’t be the next Gamecube, that’s for sure

  14. Seriously!? Only 5k with the new Wind Waker HD bundle out and all the other games coming out soon!!!? What is wrong with Japan!! America is the only real Nintendo supporter anymore… hence why we get no special deals. Nintendo only gives special deals to countries that “need” to be enticed. :/ 💋

  15. Thank GOD. I’m glad it didnt boost sales. Nintendo finally now sees that taking the cheap way out making remakes wont change the sales. Its a blatant ripoff of fans. They should have made a full course new Zelda instead of a remake. I for one am TIRED of it. Nintendo has evolved from a company that gave the fans everything to one that tries to suck every penny out of its customers… like Sony was at the start of last gen. It didn’t take them long to figure out they were making a mistake. I seriously believe Nintendo is heading down Dreamcast lane with Wii U.

  16. I think if Nintendo stopped production of the regular Wii , it would bring more sells for the Wii U. Because then it would be the only choice for people to buy.

    1. well if that was the case, then it would imply that currently the Wii is doing substantial numbers in Japan, “distracting” buyers from the Wii U…which clearly isn’t the case….the Wii U simply hasn’t got enough appeal (games) to justify a purchase this far…

  17. I’m currently saving up for a Wii U. But at the rate things are going, I’m scared. I mean, should I spend my money and buy the Wii U once I have enough saved? Or is Nintendo going to cease production of the Wii U and pull it off of store shelves? I sure didn’t think I’d ever have to worry about THAT with a Nintendo console.

Just goes to show how many people have been infected by Sony and Microsoft’s CRAP consoles. I look at those like I do toilet paper. I just don’t understand the appeal?

    1. Actually, the Japanese don’t care about HD remakes in general. There hasn’t been a good selling HD remake there in ages. It doesn’t help that the game is launched a few weeks before high value Family Wii U bundles will too. Also, the Zelda franchise actually isn’t as popular in Japan as many think. Between Wii and GCN, Twilight Princess didn’t even sell 700k…

  23. Said it before, and I’ll say it again, Nintendo screwed up when they didnt make the Controller for the Wii-U a portable system on its own. I was going to buy one, then I read that it only works at home, WTF? I mean I can take my droid tablet anywhere, play games, anywhere, and I dont have to be locked on my couch, stuck to a TV, to play my games.

Nintendo should have made the controller, so when not at home, it would at least play old N64 games or even Gamecube, but instead, they lock you in your home.

Most people want portable games these days. Game systems and even PCs are losing more and more people all the time to Tablets. With the Wii-U portable, they could have taken Samsung and Apple head on in the portable game market and still had it work at home as a console with even more graphics capabilities on your TV,. They Blew it!!!

You Nintendo fanboys I’m sure will rush out at X-mas time and get your new Wii-U’s with one good game to play, good luck with that!
