Shigeru Miyamoto Holding “Pikmin Spotted” Drawing Competition For Art Academy: SketchPad Users

Pikmin creator Shigeru Miyamoto is set to hold a special drawing competition to celebrate the recent arrival of his Pikmin short movies. Shared over Miiverse, Miyamoto has called out to Art Academy: SketchPad artists to submit drawings based on the theme “Pikmin Spotted”. Users are invited to submit their drawings in the Art Academy Events community by November 30, 2014, and must own the application before doing so. For those who don’t own the application, you will still able to view the artwork by logging into Miiverse and selecting the community.

Nintendo has previously held Miiverse drawing competitions through SketchPad. You may remember Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma also invited artists to share their incredible visions of their favourite characters from The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds back in January. Below you’ll find Miyamoto’s message from Miiverse.

Hello, this is Shigeru Miyamoto from Nintendo! To commemorate the release of PIKMIN Short Movies on Nintendo eShop, I would like to ask all artists using Art Academy: SketchPad to help share the charm of Pikmin with everyone. In the Art Academy Events community, we will be holding a drawing challenge with the theme “Pikmin Spotted!” The deadline will be 30th November 2014.

You will need to own the Art Academy: SketchPad software to submit your drawings. However, anyone can swing by and enjoy browsing through all the wonderful artwork, so I hope you’ll come visit the event page!
