Has A New Metroid 3DS Game Been Accidentally Revealed By Nintendo?

metroid_3ds

Nintendo may have accidentally revealed the existence of a new Metroid game for the Nintendo 3DS on its new ‘What is Nintendo 3DS’ page. Nintendo has listed a range of exclusive franchises for the platform and mentions Animal Crossing, Super Smash Bros, Pokemon, and then Metroid. I guess Metroid is technically on the Nintendo 3DS eShop, but that’s not really exclusive. Who knows? Maybe we might hear about it in a future Nintendo Direct.

      1. All I see is: “All the systems in the Nintendo 3DS family play exclusive titles you can’t find anywhere else, from Mario™ to Zelda™, Animal Crossing™ to Pokémon™. You can even download many of these titles–plus digital-only games–directly to your system from Nintendo eShop.”

        Nothing about Metroid. Mysterious.

        1. We are proud to announce that the Metroid title mention is a remake of
“Metroid Other M”. This is exactly what “AKA-Link77” predicted in his prophecy.

    1. What? It’s here :-)

      Exclusive games
From Super Smash Bros.™ for Nintendo 3DS to Pokémon™, Animal Crossing™ to Metroid™, the Nintendo 3DS family of handheld systems are home to fan-favorites you can’t find anyplace else.

  1. I can’t imagine they would have shown the nameless Fire Emblem title over any new Metroid game in development. But they did release the trilogy on the VC, so maybe there is something, but not in any presentable form. Perhaps we’ll see something during E3.

  2. I knew it, I’ve been saying it all along! Now, to lower my expectation a tad, and expect nothing. That’s what I did with Majoras Mask after joining in with showing interest..

  3. Or they simply meant virtual console. 3DS is a Nintendo system so of course this is where you’ll expect a game but this doesn’t anything yet

    1. You do know that Smash Bros. characters got leaked by Nintendo PR before were revealed right? Plus key word “Can’t find anywhere else” Metroid and Metroid II can be found on NES, Game Boy, SNES, GBA, WII, WII U, and 3DS.

  5. If a metroid game comes out exclusively for the “NEW” 3DS I will buy one. Then buy xenonblade chronicles. But I’m still upset over not getting the regular new 3ds cuz I want me some face plates. See that wood grain? Pimpin baby. Damn I hope it comes eventually. But then again Im tempted for the bigger screen.

But I like the current size too. I’ll get the bigger screen when they update to a new system.

  7. most likely just a fuck up from the guys in the PR department who probably don’t know all too much about nintendos future releases anyway

    1. I suspect the 3ds Metroid will be announced in the spring of this year similar to Zelda albw and Metroid Wii U will be announced at e3 for a 2016 holiday release.

  8. Maybe they’re working on a 2d Metroid. I mean they did work on the donkey Kong series. I’m sure Retro has proven to Nintendo that they can create good platformers.

Having said that, I would prefer if they make a shooter. Doesn’t even matter if it’s Metroid to me anymore. I just want a competitive shooter.

Something needs to replace the hole left behind by call of duty. Splatoon is cool and all, but that seems like a beginners shooter. Something for the whole family. I’m eagerly awaiting that game (heck I wish it was out already!) But I need something that’ll make me be able to convince my gamer friends, whom are all older than 21. Something besides Smash to hold us over when we don’t go out to the bars.

    1. Sakamoto owns the traditional 2d Metroid games so Retro can’t make a 2d one. Retro can only make the 3d fps one since Tanabe owns the 3d fps Prime Metroids, so those asking for a 2d Metroid from Retro are out of luck since Tanabe will always make them make a 3d fps Metroid if they do come back to the franchise. The good news about the 2d Metroids is that Sakamoto is no longer directing or writing the 2d games he is only producing them. Sakamoto’s own development team now work on Metroid games along with other games like, Tomodachi Life, Kiki Tricks and Game & Wario.
