Good news for those of you still anxiously waiting to get the limited edition New Nintendo 3DS Majora’s Mask edition. US retailer GameStop has apparently reopened in store pre-orders for the system. If you’re lucky enough you may be able to get one, but you’ll have to be quick. The console is in high demand.

Will this NEW 3DS have a stiff control pad? My original 3DS had a nice smooth control pad but when I always play a demo 3DS XL at A store the control pad is very tight and takes effort to push the control pad and a direction.
I’m not sure if that is wear on 3DS XL demo models control pad from hundreds of children and punk teenagers wearing them down.
Anyone have a XL with a nice smooth control pad or do all XL’s control pads take effort to push around?

Just ordered mine in store 20 minutes ago. Hell Yes!!! Only caveat is that you won’t get it on the February 13th launch. Mine is coming between the 26th and March 3rd.
went to pay off the black one I had ordered an the manager remembered I wanted the MS one so he quickly swiched it over for me.Same here with the extra week wait for shipping as I didn’t want to pay extra for 1 Day,worth the wait though and I had to wait for my LE MM game with the statue to ship also anyways.

Actually it might have to do with location. I’m about to get my own backorder for one but at least my GS said there is a limited quantity in my “state” because it previously missed out on the MM game bundle/skull kid due to a holiday, and restricted the MM console to pay-it-full, no pre-ordering.(which didn’t matter because we never had a chance no matter how quick we went to the store).
Statewise though, I’d recommend calling every Gamestop close by to you, the memo might have only reached to CERTAIN stores, not every single one of them. Probably to do just that, prevention of the scalpers in the same area from attempting to buy them again…sorta like scattering stock to other places. :/

I asked at 2 stores in Chula Vista and the other one that’s in SY next to the border. The thing is that I just got off work and I’m on my way to GS but I’m they’ve sold out already…seriously I’m killing myself cuz the idiot at the store Dias if I have him a call he could switch the preoreer or the black one to the MM edition but unfortunately he doesn’t work today so the person who’s there right now didn’t want to do it over he phone.

Apparently this is being offered to the west coast states because their original pre-sale was started on east coast time and were sold out even before Gamestops on the west coast were open. People in CA keep trying. I’ min LA and I just pre-ordered here in Burbank.

I just got my pre-order on GameStop at Puerto Rico today. Its true they re-open the pre-orders because they are cancelling orders that have the same shipping address. The order however will not arrive until feb. 23 and you need pay it in full.
Unfortunately I was a mere 10 minutes too late ,I hope they release another batch or I will have to settle for the regular black N3DS.

I woke up this morning and called two gamestops and they said they were sold out. I called Customer Service and they said they are available. I called the store again and they said they can’t do it. On my lunch I went to a gamestop and asked and the cashier told me it just sold out .30 min ago. I told him how I was calling and was being told no and he said there was a special way to do it and they guys probably didn’t read the memo correctly but he was sure they sold out because he couldn’t order one for a customer. He did offer me the Monster Hunter version which I ordered for one of my friends who almost cried when he heard they sold out so I ordered it for him. At least he’s happy. I did get a peach smash controller so I didn’t walk out empty handed but it is disappointing that I called two stores before going to work and was told I couldn’t when I in fact could.
Just got an e-mail claiming Best Buy canceled my pre-order. Sigh.

I don’t care about not getting it. Anybody could be quite comfortable using their regular New 3DS outside. Know why? The Majora’s Mask and Monster Hunter ones are so limited and so many people want it, they will probably end up getting stolen. Hence, they will be locked indoors, all safe in the box, while the rest of us actually get to enjoy the games.

Just remember that the businesses do not care if you get nothing now, only you will be missing out. It’s BS, but a fact of life. No business gives a flying crap about their customers anymore. So if you don’t care about the new 3DS or can wait to get a later special edition then go for it, but don’t think you going without is going to teach anyone any lesson. Unfortunately, our society is far past that point of NA consumers having any clout with these pathetic companies.

Wow, I’m wondering why BB would cancel so many orders that didn’t even exceed the limit. This sh!t is getting out of hand.
Let’s be honest here, this was a marketing disaster made by Nintendo altogether, it’s not any of the retailers fault for what they’ve been doing.
What in their small noodles did Nintendo think it was a GREAT idea to release a brand new system along with TWO limited editions next to their really lame red 3DS and the usual black one?
Did they not stop and think…”whoa wait…why would I get this lame plain colored NEW 3DS when I can get the SPECIAL edition one that almost no one will be able to get, so that will make me look cooler?” Ugh I really hate how they mishandled this…there should have been much more control on distributing these limited edition systems but their big fat mistake was releasing them all at the same time.
It used to be: “We’re going to launch a new system with regular colors and then we’ll release the limited editions later on” not “release ALL 4 OF THEM AT THE SAME TIME.”
When OoT:3D released back in 2011, there wasn’t a limited edition 3DS system to go along with the game at the time, that happened 5 months later by releasing the 25th Zelda anniversary 3DS that was even bundled with the physical game altogether. It was probably the best 3DS bundle ever made and the timing was perfect for the holiday season that year. There was CONTROL and it was the first special edition 3DS to be sold to the public.
All Nintendo had to do was wait…wait and be fucking patient about releasing a system like the MM edition or the MH4U editions. Why was there a rush to begin with? Were they trying to capitalize on the scalping hype? Because all it did was make more people frown with disappointment. Especially those who are still recovering from the holiday season.
