Erika From Nintendo Clarifies Some Of The Details Of Miiverse Redesign

As I’m sure you are aware, Miiverse is getting a redesign this summer bringing with it new and improved features. One sore topic was the restrictions on posting and the changes to the activity feed. Erika from Nintendo has taken to Miiverse to address these things and clarify why they are bringing about the changes.

Hi Miiverse friends!

First of all, I want to thank everyone who contributed their thoughts and ideas on the redesign of Miiverse. I read through all of your comments on my announcement about the redesign and noticed that many of you had concerns about the posting limitation and changes to the Activity Feed. Below, I will try to clarify a few things about the reasons for these changes.

First and foremost, Miiverse is created for gamers to talk about games – to give everyone the chance to ask questions about a game/app, for example, or if you get stuck and need help in-game. But over time, some people have started using Miiverse for other things, such as long chats that are not strictly game-related. These posts would prevent others from enjoying their favourite communities to the fullest. In order to keep Miiverse game-centred for you, we decided to redesign Miiverse, which includes introducing the posting limitation. Some of you had concerns about other parts of the renewal as well. Let me clarify some of those for you:

  1. You will be able to attach screenshots to your drawings in the Drawings section.
  2. It will be possible to post the screenshots saved in your Album section into your Play Journal.
  3. We are planning to enable the posting of screenshots saved in the Album also into the “Drawings” and “Discussion” sections. This will be implemented sometime in the near future.
  4. Posts and comments made before the renewal will not be deleted and will be viewable also after the renewal.
  5. The Activity Feed will remain as it is, you just won’t be able to post in it. You can still see the posts made by your friends and the people that you are following. Once I have more information on the renewal date or other new functions, I will post it here.

If you have any further questions, feel free to share them with us. :) Thanks for reading!

  1. What!? You can’t post in the Activity Feed!? How the hell am I going to send post to all of my friends at once without posting in a community?

  2. Sounds like a good update to me. The people complaining likely spend too much time on it. 30 posts a day is not enough for you? Sheesh.

    1. This update is Ok, i am tired of seeing shitty post of trolls like iceazeama and noa (aka donko), have you ever read their posts?
      It’s pure crap!

        1. What i mean is that people only use miiverse to talk shit, insult others and so on.
There are some good examples on YouTube and a good “friend” of yours have various videos of him trolling on miiverse.

  3. Since when did anyone enjoy Miiverse for ‘strictly’ game-related topics?
How in hell am I going to keep a conversation going about YouTube??? Miiverse is basically forums getting a massive downgrade

    R.I.P. Miiverse 2012-2015

    1. I have only been in game related topics in Miiverse and for the game whose community I am in. People want to discuss non gaming topics with more than 30 posts there is always Wii U Chat since Voice Chat is a big thing with people. They can look at them and discuss what they need to.

  4. I’m ok with this, miiverse is not meant to be memeverse. Only people who should be complaining are little kids and trolls, those are the ones who seem to post/comment all day.

  5. Miiverse being “Only for talking about games” well news flash Nintendo, THATS THE PROBLEM, YOUR BEING A DICTATOR. How do Wii U gamers talk about ANYTHING ELSE? There is no party chat, and your one and only communication system is flawed, and broken beyond all logic. No disrespect to the former President, Iwata…but I hope whoever takes over next gives us Party Chat, and either fixes the Miiverse or simply removes it.

    1. As Nintendo has marketed it from the beginning it is a place to talk about or receive help from the game you are playing. That is why there is a community for the different games. Miiverse is not facebook or any other no specific topic social media. It is a Video Game social media.

      1. They advertised it as their “Social Media Service” Quit being a Nintendo fanboy and either wake the fuck you child, or sit back down and let Nintendo rape you in your ass over and over again cause clearly you love a hot, hard dick up the ass. It’s 2015 IT IS MANDATORY FOR FANS OF A COMPANY OR CONSOLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH EACH OTHER. Also since their is a YOUTUBE community clearly THATS NOT FOR TALKING ABOUT GAMES.

        1. Don’t forget Nintendo TVii in the United States & those other communities for streaming services like Netflix.

        2. I’m a pc gamer at heart. Insult me if you wish. You tube community is for talking about the you tube items you watched. It is not mandatory at all. What 2015 has to do about it. It’s just a year. Since I’m a child, what child you know was born in 1976. I’m sorry you not able to discuss things in a civil manner. The fact is Nintendo have stated it and advertised it as such. So complain away, it is your choice. I’m glad this is in effect, the miiverse.nint communities I’m in is always pleasant. I like it that way.

    2. This comment was brilliant. And then Reggie dares to say that they focus on being social, LMAO Reggie has to get fired.

  6. So there is no misconception about the 30 posts AND comments rule? It in fact means we can only make a combined total of 30 posts AND comments in one day? FUCK YOU, NINTENDO!!! “We want people to be more social!” Bullshit! BULL-FUCKING-SHIT!!! No party chat, not adding voice chat to certain games, all these god damn post/comment time limits, & now this bullshit!? Just fucking shut Miiverse down because you obviously want to fucking control everyone on there! What about the Youtube & Nintendo TVii communities!? At least those could be exempt from these fucking bullshit limits! But no! Apparently we’re all a bunch of idiots that need to be babied whenever we’re in a social environment! As I said before & can’t say in Miiverse, FUCK YOU, NINTENDO!!! YOU JUST COMPLETELY & TOTALLY DESTROYED BEING SOCIALLY ACTIVE WHICH YOU MOTHERFUCKERS ARE SUPPOSEDLY THE CHAMPIONS OF!!! Maybe you fucking idiots should fucking go 3rd party and just make games & controllers & leave console functions to the people that are actually EVOLVING with the times instead of trying to cling to the dying days of the past!

Just wait! It won’t be long before anyone that critics Nintendo on Miiverse gets drop kicked by a “bullying/hateful” deletion from an admin & eventual permaban.

    1. “This is about protecting our consumers! Please understand!” Hah! Protection, my ass! This is dictatorial control, plain & simple!

  7. 3DS users l are fucked. Miiverse was the only way of chatting with your friends.

That’s why everyone says your online services are terrible, Nintendo. But you want to make the situation even worse.

    1. And to be honest I used to think Miiverse was a really great idea. Sometimes I wish Sony and MS had something similar, because it’s a way of meeting and talking to people who like videogames. But hell… They at least have party chat, crosschat, which are faster ways of communication. Nintendo’s now got nothing.
