US: Mario, Zelda And Donkey Kong Games Join Line Of $19.99 Nintendo Selects

Starting on March 11, some of the most popular and critically acclaimed Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games become a part of the Nintendo Selects program and will be available at a suggested retail price of only $19.99 each. Wii U games like Super Mario 3D World, an imaginative four-player adventure with Mario and friends that received numerous Game of the Year awards and nominations when it first launched in 2013, join Nintendo 3DS standouts such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, one of the most critically acclaimed Nintendo 3DS games of all time.

“Whether you just picked up a new Wii U or Nintendo 3DS system over the holiday season or want to expand your ever-growing game collection, Nintendo Selects are a great, affordable option,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “Not only are these games easier than ever to enjoy, but they also represent some of our highest-quality offerings in recent memory.”

Other Wii U games joining the Nintendo Selects family are Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Pikmin 3 and NES Remix Pack. Fun Nintendo 3DS games Yoshi’s New Island, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D and Mario Party: Island Tour can also be purchased at the new low suggested retail price of $19.99 each on March 11. Additionally, a group of classics from the Wii console that can be played on Wii U will be available at the reduced Nintendo Selects price. This includes Super Mario Galaxy 2, Animal Crossing: City Folk, Donkey Kong Country Returns and Super Mario All-Stars.

  1. Now This is great news. I’m so glad that held off on buying all of the games above. I won’t bother with Pikmin 3, but 3D World, Country Returns, and Tropical Freeze are insta buys. I’ll probably get Yoshi’s New Island at some point as well.

      1. I still have to finish Pikmin 1 and buy Pikmin 2 though, which is why it’s not too high yet. I really just don’t like the Day and Night system. Yoshi’s New Island is short and easy, but at least it’s fun right?

        1. Every game is more or less self-contained, and this one gives you plenty of time to dick around the levels if that’s what you’re concerned with. I finished my first play-through in 40 something days out of the 100 (99?) maximum, and I took my time to 100% the game. It’s not like the first one at all.

About Yoshi’s New Island, the level design is so bland that I have trouble enjoying it. The music is atrocious too. You’re much better off with Woolly World, believe me.

  2. Oh i already have super mario 3D world its definitely time to pick up tropical freeze and pikmin 3. and at such a low price! this is a great deal! NES remix doesnt interest me. I already played country returns on the wii, i have island tour, and yoshis new island i wont be getting because of its lacklster reviews. I might pick up ocarina of time but right now im busy enough with fire emblem.

-||Ambassador Sickr, does this only concern NA or will it be available everywhere too?||-

-||So the already cheap ones will get even cheaper over there, that’s great||-

  4. Well I should keep that article near me next time I read a US gamer complaining he or she doesn’t a deal/item/ which exist outside NA and cursing EU and Nintendo America. This remind me should I do the same as them???….. No I can’t be asked.

      1. Oh 3D World is sooooo gooooood :D and it gets hard as balls towards the end, it has a difficulty curve that rises just perfectly too. You’ll love it man (that’s if you haven’t played it yet.)

        1. I haven’t played it. Just had other games on my list. Since my Wii U list is not as long as it used to be, I am able to grab those games I like with the reduced price.

  5. At $20, I’d say Super Mario 3D World is worth it I guess. Tropical Freeze on the other hand is worth the full $60 it normally sells for. If anyone hasn’t picked that game up yet, now’s the time. Everything about that game is amazing! From the level design to the soundtrack, it’s easily one of the best Wii U titles out there.
