Nintendo has been on a trademark binge lately, and the latest applications target certain characters. Toad, Toadette, Rosalina, and more have been specifically targeted by Nintendo in their trademark applications. However, the intention seems to be geared more towards clothing. In fact, the clothing purposes seem to be a move Nintendo has done following the legal issues with MariCAR. Part of the legal troubles with them involve the outfits, so it seems Nintendo is learning from it.

Odd. Nintendo as usual though. 😥
Nintendo realizes that their characters are recognizable from only their clothing at times, so they are covering their bases to avoid legal issues. Nothing to see here.
P3. When I read the article my first thought was of Rabbids dressed as Mario characters
it may be for the workers in the Universal theme park.
I wonder how much Nintendo is fuming at not being able to win the court case over the Maricar name. lol
