The team over at Mojang and Microsoft have confirmed that Minecraft owners should expect a large update to the immensely popular game later this evening. The new update brings with it a tonne of new features including a brand new UI engine. The update is rolling out now to all platforms with the Nintendo Switch and Wii U expected to receive it sometime this evening. Here’s the details as provided by the development team:
- 7 new Achievements/Trophies
- New UI engine (saving significant memory – which should boost performance!)
- Llamas
- Parrots
- Woodland Mansion
- Treasure Maps
- Observer Block
- Totem of Undying
- Illagers! Vindicator, Vex and Evoker!
- ‘Bouncy’ Beds
- Dyeable beds
- Option to change Biomes size to match other platforms (since they are smaller on console by default)

I’ve been playing Minecraft in 4K for some time, it doesn’t make much of a difference obviously. Now, Minecraft on Oculus, it’s amazing!
Cross play! Too bad Sony will miss out on this.
