Eurogamer is backing the report from Video Games Chronicles that Nintendo is readying a number of Super Mario re-releases for the Nintendo Switch this year to celebrate the Italian plumbers 35th anniversary, The publication says that they have heard that both Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 3D World Deluxe are just two of the games coming along with a new entry in the Paper Mario series. These are expected to be unveiled later this year.
Update:
In my reporting on this I acknowledged "a couple of other 3D Mario favourites" as well as Galaxy were coming – now @Gematsu has confirmed will add them in here – Sunshine and 64 are coming in HD toohttps://t.co/iw6u15ik4T

I’m not sure about this rumor being legit honestly. 3d World i can understand going to the switch, but I can’t wrap my head around on how Galaxy 1 will work on the switch since you can’t point at the screen like the Wii.

Hang on, what? The Nintendo Switch already features Splatoon 2 that has you take aim with the joy-cons or the pro controller. How would it be an issue for Super Mario Galaxy?
Fuck Switch Lite owners, right?
+bootyranger
Uhm no? You can play Splatoon 2 on the Nintendo Switch Lite with motion controls just fine so there’s literally no reason you wouldn’t be able to do the same for Super Mario Galaxy.
Also, are people forgetting the analogue sticks? If this whole pointing thing really is that big of a deal, what’s stopping you from aiming with analogue stick and pressing a button to shoot.

Well, I assumed it was an issue because the Switch doesn’t have a motion sensor bar like the Wii does. I never played Splatoon 2, so I wasn’t aware of that.
You can point at the screen, try World of Goo on the Switch and you’ll see.
Exactly.
galaxy is already on the nvidia and it already works with out motion, and point controls.
How on earth do you play table top mode with no kickstand because it is the Lite?
They put Mario Galaxy on the Nvidia Shield, that had no motion control and played out fine

Yeah and Super Mario World and Super Mario Bros 3 is also coming to the Switch in HD.
I hardly believe that Nintendo is remaking all those classics games.
The port of Super Mario 3D World was already mention by Sabi. But all of those remastered? I don’t believe it.
Then again, they’ve been planning big things. They have been silent far too long for it to not be something big like this. Especially for an anniversary for the man in red himself.
“They have been silent far too long for it to not be something big like this.”
They were silent for the last two years of the Wii’s lifespan and still had almost nothing to show for the first year and a half of the Wii U. You can’t read too much in to a lack of Nintendo announcements. They could have 5 major things in the works, or they could be making the modern version of Wii Music. In general, they tend to focus on what they want to make, rather than what necessarily has the most demand. Sometimes that works out wonderfully, other times it leaves you scratching y our head.
Regardless, Nintendo is no stranger to not looking after their fans. Old and new. I can confidently say the wait will be worth it.
Plot twist. Nintendo is actually making Super Mario Galaxy 3.
This would be amazing.
Stop…. Iโd lose my fkn mind … :(
I know its hard to believe in these rumors but sure it can be made by random users who doesn’t work for Nintendo. All i can say is, Lets find out and see.
Right.
This was originally said by several accurate sources
Yeah i can see that on two websites.
Interesting.
Super Mario 3D World – Yeah, we all are expecting that as it’s obvious they gonna do it, I mean why not?
Super Mario 64 – Err…would be abit weird considering we’ve already had a remake of that game
Super Mario Galaxy – I want to believe it but it sounds too good to be true
Super Mario Sunshine – Hmm….would be interesting but since it would have to be upscaled to HD, Nintendo may think it’s not worth it as the Gamecube didn’t exactly do well. I know you could argue the same for SM3DW but that game is pretty much ready to go as it’s already in HD.
“Nintendo may think itโs not worth it as the Gamecube didnโt exactly do well. ”
In my experience, the current age bracket of the average people who peruse Nintendo sites means absolutely no one is willing to admit that the Gamecube was anything less than a colossally successful golden age, and that Nintendo are fools for not focusing on Gamecube sequels and Gamecube style games.
Why would would use the resources to remake the least successful main series Mario game I don’t know, but then, they remade by far the least successful main series Zelda game for the Wii U so I guess it could be true.

You’re kidding yourself if you think the Nintendo Gamecube was from a “Golden Age”, I grew up during that era and it wasn’t as glamorous as other periods.
The console had very little 3rd party support, the decision to use a mini-disk was a horrible choice, and the system barely managed 20 million units which for a Nintendo console is very low, the Nintendo Switch on the other hand has already beaten that and in way less time. Don’t get me wrong; The Nintendo Gamecube does have some amazing games but I really wouldn’t call it a “Golden Age”. If anything, the only thing enjoying a Golden Age around that time was the Playstation 2.
As for your argument about Zelda The Wind Waker; Actually, I have to admit, that is a good point. If they were willing to remaster that game in HD, they may be willing to make Super Mario Sunshine HD. Although I should point out that technically, Zelda Wind Waker HD isn’t a remake, it’s merely a HD Remaster which isn’t the same.
You seem to be under the impression that I was championing the Gamecube. I wasn’t. I was agreeing with you. Just noting how unpopular it is to acknowledge Gamecube failings on the internet.
+Cronotose
Oh sorry, my mistake.
Agreed. Consider that Nintendo has remastered Link’s Awakening. A Game Boy game.
Sounds cool, but try not to get hyped until an official announcement is made. Still waiting on that Star Fox Racing from Retro.
… This Star Fox game isn’t going to come out… Check out a youtuber called Arlo. He has made a video about Retro Studios, 2 or 3 months ago, about the future of Metroid, Donkey Kong and this Star Fox game.

If this is true, how much do you wanna bet they’ll both be full price.
Certainly not impossible and a collection would be amazing. Must be physical though.
They could be planning the switch version of all stars. Why not!
Hupm if only if they do Super Mario Sunshine deluxe for Nintendo Switch. They already done Luigi’s mansion for the 3DS, Why not Super Mario Sunshine? I’m ok with Super Mario Galaxy.
Personally would be hype if the Galaxy games got bundled along with Sunshine but if the pulled a Super Mario Allstars 2 that would be even even better. Canโt imagine theyโd bundle so many 3D Mario games in one package though. Can dream I guess.
If anyone could pull putting 5 or more 3D games into one data card & it not be a huge ass download, it would be Nintendo on their own hardware.
Or maybe I’m just giving them too much credit in this area of expertise for a change.
why not make new mario games, everyone has already turned all the old games already
24 days until Trails of Mana arrives. I just got to know what happend when that werewolf pushes them over the cliff? Who saved the two? The suspense is killing me. I NEED TO KNOW!!!
THIS IS ONE HELL OF AN ACTION RPG. The music the graphics from 1995 to now is incredible. They talk too. But I love the music. It is in my head as I am typing this.
Chrono Trigger?
I said it before and I’m going to say it again TRAILD OF MANA IS ONE HELL OF AN ACTION RPG ONE HELL OF AN RPG INDEED.
Please Square Enix make a TRAIL OF MANA 2 IMMEDIATELY dont be like Nintendo and wait 8 years to get started.
The fact that Trials of Mana is a good game it’s true. I played the demo and I think Trials of Mana is one of the few JRPG that is made with the idea of speedrunning.
