Retro Studios is still hiring more people, as development of Metroid Prime 4 continues. According to the job listings on Nintendo‘s official careers site, Retro is looking for 3 product testers and a storyboard artist. All 4 job listings were apparently added very recently, and all are for “game development”. In fact, the product tester listings were added a week and a half ago, and the storyboard artist listing appeared about a week ago.
This game is never coming out lmao. I hope the wait is worth it. I have trust Retro Studios will create a great game, it’ll either be released summer of 2022 or if we’re lucky holiday 2021
what did you freaking expect they said starting from scratch meaning it was further from release than even barely teased stuff like bayonetta 3 and botw 2 that wouldve at least done pre production and such, and that was before covid
My amigo with the picture of Bandana Dee don’t be sad about not seeing MP4 anytime soon but rather we have to appreciate that Retro Studios is hiring as much people as possible for making the best Metroid Prime game ever made.
I suspect they delayed metroid prime trilogy because of the restart in development. Maybe we’ll see the trilogy next year.
This is never going to end is it? We’re going to have a whole compendium on the people Retro Studios has either hired or placed job listings for before this game comes out.
I think we are hearing about it, because people are watching Retro Studios like hawks. Otherwise, these hires would fly under the radar.
Retro Studios is in good games with Metroid Prime 4.
Retro Studios is in good hands with Metroid Prime 4.
Hey (SSF1991 mind erase my other comment, i meant to say hands and it went to auto correct)
Storyboards? Geez, this is probably coming to the Nintendo Switch U.
Damn first a graphics desiner, story teller now this? I knew Nintendo was lying when they said they were working on this game 3 years ago. They should had been had all the people to start this game when Wii U was current generation.
What the hell has Retro been doing besides lying they were working on this game in 2017 like Nintendo lied about Pikmin 4 nearly complete in 2015.
I know Metroid Prime 5 will come out by 2040. And I know I’ll be dead by the time Metroid Prime 6 arrive.
Really what has Retro worked on? As long as this is taking why didnt they start on a Sequel to Tropical Freeze in 2013 the minute Tropical Freeze debuted in February 2012? Had they did that, Wii U and Switch could had got Donkey Kong Sequels. But as usual make a game, relase it and have 0 plans on making a game immediately.
You do know development restarted from scratch last year, right? The original version of Prime 4 was canned. These things take time.
Also, wasn’t retro super involved with Mario kart 8 deluxe?
Never into these games except the DS Hunters game that was fun. It’s an overhyped concept in my opinion. But hey have at that waiting game
For those worried about this pointing towards it taking even longer to come out, these specific listings could be the opposite. The storyboard artist would be for cutscenes which are worked on separately to the main meat of the game and will be using the in-game graphics engine which shows that is virtually done, probably less work to complete too. The product testers could mean they are getting close to that phase of development which is towards the end so it must be further along than it seems.
I would like to add that just because a game studio is “hiring” does not mean that these new hires are strictly meant for one particular project.
Retro Studios likely has more than one game in development. They may need to hire more staff to fill all the roles. Especially since Metroid restarted development. They may have allocated more hands on deck to get the job done quicker and meat a deadline.
Of course, I am speculating, as all of us are, but I hope I can shed light on the matter. We really can’t use these hires as indicators of a game’s progression through development.
*meet
We don’t even know if these hirings are for MP4 guys.
That’s good news. 1)this means they are far enough along they can worry about story. 2)this could also mean they are working on cutscenes. I think Nintendo is trying to get this game out fast.
There will be a big game to showcase the Switch Plus, XL or whatever the upgraded version will be.
Zelda 2, MP 4 or something we don’t know about yet. The next version of Switch has to be out 2021, I think that’s the consensus. What game will be used to show it off, we’ll see. If MP 4 could make the next Switch launch window, that would be tight.
It’s called Switch+
