Japan: Nintendo Switch family has now sold 17 million units, entire top ten is Switch games this week

Japanese physical video game software and hardware sales tracker Famitsu has published the charts for the period beginning 14th December, 2020 to 20th December, 2020. It seems clear that the Switch is the gaming platform of choice in the land of the rising sun, after smartphones. The Nintendo Switch family of consoles has shifted an impressive 263,304 additional units this week. This means that the Switch has now passed the milestone of selling 17 million systems in Japan since launch. As you can see from the software charts below, the Switch is completely dominating.

  1. The Switch is dominating the sales in Japan and no sign of slowing down. Hope next gen Switch does just as well.

  2. The Switch will easily top 100 million in sales when it’s all said and done. Hell I’d even say it’ll go down in history as the very best selling video game console ever made!!

      1. Nintendo DS almost did by a hair; in fact, ps2 was nothing but a cheap DVD player which helped with sales. Nintendo Switch is only 3 years old and it’s more than half way more than ps2 was at 3 years old!
