Sonic Team head, Takashi Iizuka, has recently sat down for a rapid fire question and answer session with Game Informer which has been running most of the recent coverage of the upcoming Sonic Frontiers. Mr. Iizuka was asked by the publication if the team has thought about what’s beyond Sonic Frontiers which launches this autumn on multiple platforms including the Nintendo Switch family of systems. He says that he already knows what’s next for the Sonic franchise after Sonic Frontiers though he obviously he wouldn’t spill the beans on what it will be. However, Mr. Iizuka mentioned in June that he would like to revisit the Sonic Adventure series, which first made its debut on the Dreamcast in 1999 in the west, so that sounds like a sure-fire bet at the moment.
Thanks to our very own SSF1991 for the news tip!
Someone really needs to tell Sonic Team to just shut up and stop making statements already…..
Too late to tell.
Lol that’s what I was already thinking! Sonic Team at this point really need to just keep quiet.
Funny thing about this statement: a few months back there were rumors of a modern 2D Sonic game and development that would have Sonic tails and knuckles playable. Now I know that it is a rumor, so should we take it with a grain of salt; however, I am fairly optimistic that we will get a new modern Sonic game with multiple playable characters.
But then again, maybe that’s just me wanting to be hopeful.
Would it be Sonic Adventure with such different staff after all these years?
Actually, I don’t care. I want it.
And bring back the Chao.
Off topic but nice dog.
Nobody wants a potentially bad game, unless it’s actually by people who do extensive research on what makes the Adventure series work and can competently design games.
Team “Adventure” Headcannon.
Me when I lie, also they do this before and after every modern sonic game releases bait sonic adventure 3 in some type of way to get fans hype for the next game, even if sonic adventure 3 happens do you really expect sonic team to deliver.
I agree. I would love that game but with the current Sonic Team… I just don’t trust them :(. At this point I bet another video game company could do Sonic Adventures 3 better than the Sonic Team and that’s just sad!
Honestly, no because we all know they are just gonna keep making excuses about there development schedules of most Sonic games. We know they are trying to deliver the best experience in a Sonic game in Sonic Forces which they trying to do in that game, but they mess that up and screw us over with the rush pace of development for no reason. Maybe Sonic Adventure 3 will happen someday. Maybe never.
Yeah…it will be garbage.
Not gonna lie, but I don’t think people are going to trust Sonic Team anymore because they know that Sonic Team just make Sonic Frontiers a open world game just to get us to like something that we don’t appreciate. I really hate to admit this, but I’m starting to wonder what Sonic Team is trying to prove and what exactly are they trying to accomplish?
Correction: People don’t trust sonic team already.
Over and over again they show their incompetence and it’s funny how there are fanboys out there who still defend them after years of mismanagement and mediocrity.
The thing is, instead of just blindly defending a company that just sees Sonic as a dollar sign (their ONLY real dollar sign), they should try to fix Sonic themselves, by voicing what made the franchise so great up until around 2004.
SEGA doesn’t need praise, Sonic needs help.
“Sonic Team head says he knows exactly what the next Sonic game will be after Frontiers”
100% of chances it’ll be a bad one.
I think they have foot in mouth syndrome
How about thinking about a patch, instead of a sequel?
Maybe it’s best to just focus on making the game playable from the get-go, rather than thinking of its sequel.
