Atlus has been busy preparing for the 25th anniversary of the acclaimed Persona series, though their plan was disrupted somewhat by the COVID-19 pandemic. We have already seen the re-release of Persona Arena Ultimax and Persona 5 Royal is coming to multiple platforms including the Nintendo Switch later this month. Then in January 2023 we will see the release of Persona 4 Golden HD and Persona 3 Portable HD on Switch and other platforms. Persona Team director and producer, Kazuhisa Wada, shared a special message with fans at this weekend’s Persona Super Live P-Sound Wish 2022: Crossing Journeys event in Japan which you can read down below.
“Finally, P5R will be available for the whole world to play on the latest hardware, including PC! P5R is 3 years old now, and P5 is 6 years old, but we are very happy to be able to share the best gaming experience we can with you now. It’s a must-have title for all gamers!”
“It is also with great sadness that we must bring an end to the everlasting momentum of Persona‘s 25th anniversary. With the “Persona Super Live P-Sound Wish 2022: Crossing Journeys” live concert, we would like to conclude it. There are so many things I would like to tell you, but I deeply apologise for not being able to do so on this occasion. I would like to share them with you at the right time, so please look forward to more information about the Persona series in the future.”

Almost three years now (and an entire 25th anniversary celebration) since the last Persona game released, with nothing else currently announced.
COVID delays or not, Atlus really need to get their shit together.
Literally majority of announcements have been persona 5 crossovers/promotion you think they throw out at least a new logo for whatever new project their working on.
Eh, I actually kind of prefer they keep quiet. Persona 5 and SMT V were both announced years too early. I’m tired of getting hyped over years of knowing something will come any day now. I’d rather they show it a year, maybe 2, before they know it’s ready to release.
Delays happen, it’s a natural part of game development, I really don’t understand why people get so worked up about them.
Yeah, it sucks when it happens, but the game was still going to be delayed from its original internal release date regardless of whether it’s been announced or not, so why does it matter?
Personally, I’d much rather be informed that these new games are actually on the way and just deal with any potential delays than to have nothing but radio silence for 3+ years.
People were getting really mad at Nintendo for not announcing Pikmin 4 earlier despite the fact it’s obviously been in development hell, they just wanted to know that it still actually existed regardless of how much longer it’ll take to release.
As long as people accept the fact that unforeseen delays often happen and don’t overhype themselves, it wouldn’t be an issue (though I suppose that’s asking a lot from certain fandoms).
Delays don’t bother me. I’m more talking about when we get an announcement that’s just a jpeg of the title, followed by years of radio silence. I’m remembering SMT V specifically, having the initial teaser trailer in 2017, and not getting anything else until 2020. They definitely announced that way too early. I feel like they shouldn’t announce a game if all they have to show is a title logo. Save the announcement for when you have gameplay to show off, and possibly an idea of when you’ll be releasing it.
