Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has recently received its third wave of DLC on the Nintendo Switch. Meanwhile, Mario Kart 7 has, unsurprisingly, not been updated on the Nintendo 3DS in a decade. In fact, the last update was version 1.1 in May of 2012.
Well, believe it or not, Nintendo has released a sudden and random update to Mario Kart 7 tonight. This brings the game to version 1.2. As for the patch notes, the only thing Nintendo mentions is that “several issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience”.
Ver. 1.2 (Released December 13, 2022)
General
Several issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience.
Now what in the world, that’s so odd can’t even make a stable joke cause I’m so confused with the state of how Nintendo does updates and patches lately.
Maybe Smash Bros for 3DS will get a patch.
Nintendo don’t care about their customers, they only care about how well something is doing at any particular time, but even then it doesn’t make them care all that much, they gave out this random update as a nod to Mario kart 8’s success, which still seems a little short changed to how long it’s taken them. It would be nice if they were thinking of bringing more 3DS classes to the switch such as kid icarus and Zelda. Let’s hope this is a sign.
I’m surprised Nintendo actually updating this game since it’s last update. I’m pretty sure they will do Kid Icarus Uprising next for a 3DS update.
but why?
Why what?
This sure came out of nowhere.
Well, they updated Mario Kart 7 the question is why did it take so long between patches and why aren’t the patchnotes more specific. With a decade between updates one might think the patchnotes would be alittle more specific.
Now THIS is committment
Only reason I can see them doing this is to prepare the game for a future Virtual Console release (for a next-gen console), since there’s no reason to go back and update a game 10 years later that barely anyone plays anymore.
It’s just an exploit fix:
