Nintendo changes Tricolor Battles in Splatoon 3 Splatfests

Nintendo has confirmed this afternoon that it has changed how Tricolor Battles will work in the forthcoming Splatoon 3 Splatfest which kicks off on 7th January. When the Splatfest kicks off you can opt to join in a Tricolour Battle after the halftime report plus they have also changed it so that you won’t know whether you are on the attacking side or the defending team until the battle starts. They suggest that players who are unfamiliar with how Tricolour battle work can now check out the rules at the Splatfest Pledge Box or via the lobby menu before hopping in. Nintendo has also introduced a new metric known as Tricolor Clout to determine who wins the Splatfest saying that the team which is leading at the Halftime Report will get more Tricolor Clout when defending and those on the other teams will get more when attacking.

  1. This doesn’t really seem like an update cause the Pokemon splatfest had this option as well, but it just played roulette and sometimes and would throw you into regular splatfest battles a lot more than tricolor.

    1. The updates here are that you’ll now be guaranteed a Tricolor battle (rather than it just being a possibility) and you can now be on either the attacking or defending team (previously, the team leading at halftime would always be defending).

      1. I figure but honestly doesn’t that option just make it somewhat difficult for the whole win outcome, it sounds all good on paper but I really like to see how it all plays out in this splatfest

  2. I honestly feel like people place too much emphasis on winning in Splatfests. All you really get is 3 extra Super Sea Snails which in the grand scheme of things isn’t really that much.
