Nintendo Switch Game Voucher scheme won’t be available on Switch 2

Nintendo has confirmed this morning that it is doing away with the Nintendo Switch Game Voucher scheme with the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The Game Voucher scheme allows My Nintendo subscribers to purchase two discounted Game Vouchers, which can then be used against Nintendo games on the Nintendo eShop. This follows today’s news that Gold Point scheme is being scrapped at the end of March.

What are Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers?

Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers are a special offer available to Nintendo Switch Online members that can be purchased in a set of two. Each individual voucher can be redeemed for a selected Nintendo Switch digital software title, presenting the opportunity to save on two games. Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers cannot be redeemed for games exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 system.

  1. So they’re scrapping gold points and the vouchers? These are the things that made it great to buy digital on Switch. Buying digital is good for Nintendo, as it costs them less and they don’t have to share the revenue.

I’d call this move perplexing, but it’s not. They want to increase prices and get more money from us. They should just be careful it doesn’t backfire.

  2. In the same way it is logical that it can not be transferred from one console to another… I just wonder if they have planned another system to replace the points or because it is this system that encouraged me to buy more in numerqiue than in physics (although I have hardly ever seen any game in physics cheaper than its digital counterpart )

You don’t buy second hand games, every triple a Nintendo game in my library is second hand, I bought Mario Odissey and Mario kart for 20 dollars each

    1. Nintendo said they are selling games for 70 bucks now? I’ll be playing through my back log for the next 7 years than.

  3. All these things were probably just incentives to get more people to buy digital. Now that most purchases are digital, they don’t really need to use incentives anymore.
