NateTheHate says Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth to launch on Switch 2 and Xbox in 2026

Respected video game leaker NateTheHate is back with news which will please fans of the long-running Final Fantasy video game franchise. Nate says that Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth will arrive on both the Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S consoles in 2026. Nate says that using some well utilised DLSS upscaling and other techniques the game should be achievable on the Nintendo Switch 2 platform.

“Rebirth is coming to Switch 2 and Xbox in 2026. So… you’ll get your answer as to how it runs on Switch 2 next year. With some well utilized DLSS, SqEx can deliver Rebirth on SW2.”

  1. Seeing as how FF7 Rebirth is a UE5 game, I’m really curious to see how well it will run on the Switch 2. Square seems to have optimized FF7 Integrade really well but it’s running on UE4 I believe. UE5 seems to be a taxing engine to run on the Switch 2 (from my time with Chronos and High On Life) but maybe Square can show that with enough time and optimization even UE5 games can run well on it.

    1. UE5 is just UE4 with more updates and features. All things equal, they’re exactly the same. That’s why every platform that supports UE4 (including Switch 1) also supports UE5.

  2. If so I would double dip on this to play in bed / around the house. Remote playing PS5 on Deck is simple enough but makes the games look so squished and weird sometimes.

  3. oh hell yeah. I’m totally grabbing the FF7 Remake Intergrade, which looks like a super polished port. I have faith in SE’s abilities with the Switch 2 so far so I’d totally grab this too

  4. Even though I acknowledge that Nate has been right about many rumors, I prefer to be cautious because all of this seems too big/to precise. Publishers, especially Nintendo, wouldn’t let such information leak, but since they have spies everywhere, these “leakers”
