Amiibo Finally Arrive In Brazil For Almost 4 Times Their Normal Price

At the beginning of this year, Nintendo officially left the Brazil gaming market completely, leaving Brazilian Nintendo fans a bit stumped. However, six months after the release of amiibo, distributor NC Games has made a deal to release them in Brazil. But don’t get excited yet, as they come at a price. In the US, amiibo sell generally for about $13 which is about R$41.50. NC Games is selling the amiibo for R$150, which is just under $50 US dollars.

They’re currently selling 15 amiibo; Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Pikachu, Sheik, Zelda, Link, Toon Link, Samus, Kirby and Sonic. Diddy Kong, Peach, Samus and Sonic are already unavailable, which goes to show how much some people are willing to pay for amiibo. It’s a shame that this situation is allowed to happen, as Nintendo are giving no indication of returning business to Brazil yet, despite the obvious interest.

        >>>He’s wrathful and insane for being wrongly downgraded in Smash Brothers>>>

                1. Call it spoiled if you want to, but I refuse to support this bullshit.

I do wonder why you’re so ok with this though. You bashed 3rd party devs for gimping our Wii U ports, and releasing half baked games with missing features and DLC. You continuously deem MS the fall of gaming, but Now that Nintendo is doing it, you some how changed your tune. Why the change of heart? Or are you just being a hypocrite?

                    >>>I don’t care about Amiibos at all and the difference so far is that you don’t need Amiibos to finish and experience the complete Nintendo games while the other imbeciles forces you to buy their garbage if you want to complete their games or other significant features that should have been a part of the real game’s essential gameplay>>>

                    >>>Costumes DLC that you have to pay for is idiotic regardless of what it is, including Nintendo when they do it without anything else, it should be free as it doesn’t add anything to the game except a change of “clothing”>>>

                    1. These things use to be free though, and even if you don’t need them to finish the game, its steps like this that made the MS empire what it is today. I wasn’t referring to amiibos either, I was refering to Splatoon (which is what you brought up with the whole lack of voice chat.) Nintendo released a game with one mode, and you’re somehow ok with that. I know the other modes will eventually release for free but they still sold an incomplete game at full price.

                        >>>I’m not ok with it and that’s why I haven’t bought it yet, and if they continue to do this with future games then you can consider me going against them as well>>>

        1. I had to buy Splatoon digitally because the physical version is about R$ 250, which is too much money for a game. We’re living dark days here in Brazil. I don’t blame Nintendo for leaving, but If they were here officially, i’d be a lot easier for us.

        2. I am brazilian and I bought 5 or 6 amiibo from a brazilian guy that lives in Japan for R$45,00 (about $15 today).
          :D

        3. Tip, move. Move before they start to pirate the fucking Amiibos because Brazil pirated fucking everything. Don’t pay pirates.

          1. Brazil doesn’t pirate anything, specially videogames, which sell kinda well here. Most of the pirated products you and I know come from China. But you are a smart man, you know that, right?

              >>>Let’s say that they don’t pirate them, but they do sitll sell pirated versions in some places, just like the majority of South America because the prices are obnoxious and they have no choice>>>

Not, really. If the Brazilian market was that big Nintendo would be all over it just like they are over NA, EU, UK, KR, AU.

        4. Ummm…ok? That’s what we all have to pay for them since Nintendo can’t seem to get their product projections and manufacturing shit straight.

Welcome to Amiibo Brazil. We’re all getting raped by Nintendo’s poor business model. Congrats.

After I find a Shulk and a few FE, I’m so done and over Amiibo. Not worth the time, stress or money.

          1. Exactly what I was thinking. 4 Lucinas per store? That wouldn’t be enough even if scalping wasnt a thing.

Unfortunately, this is to be expected. Nintendo left the Brazil market, as stated in the post.

          1. Believe me,that’s not the problem. It would cost this even if Nintendo was to be here officially – and that’s because they didn’t manufactured things here.

        6. Yeah that Rand is a bitch and a half. Im ordering a CD from cape town and the shipping and taxes are twice the price of the actual cd…but for the love of music I gots ta have it.

        7. yay, can’t wait to leave this shit country someday..Or at least visit other countries to see if mine is really a shit as I think. :D

but well, expected, I just have one amiibo, paid 100 reais on it, luck me my brother is on australia and bought 5 amiibos for me. :DD

          1. Cindyaa Brazil really have problems, we know that and I think this shit never will stop..

if you have the opportunity to leave or visit other countries you will notice big differences

Last year I was in USA and I loved…I really want to come back :D

            >>>Move to Sweden and enjoy our rising nazism *wink*>>>

            >>>Well at least we would command the cattle>>>

        8. Those fifteen Amiibo are the only ones I ever see here in the states! Beyond those fifteen, the others are only on eBay, which Brazil has the same access as anyone does…

So I can’t say I feel sorry for them…. We’re in the same boat..

          1. Imagine this:
Canada starts to sell amiibo for $10 and few months later USA starts to sell the same product, BUT for $35 only because in CANADA that product is out of stock.

            what do you think now?

        9. I dont understand why people wouldn’t just find a middleman to get them. It can’t be hard to haggle out deals, iv done it. They’re not region locked.

        10. “Finally arrive” – not really, they were here for a long time for anyone who searched for them. I have 6 amiibos and today I just got the Splatoon pack (so now I have 9). I got all of them from game stores that do import. They still are quite expensive because of taxes and freight costs, like anything that is imported. But its considerably less than the R$150,00 price tag this NC Games is putting on them. You can pretty much find a good amount of amiibos for 30%~40% less than this price.
The only issue is that if there are exclusive amiibos already hard to find on the USA, they will be much harder to find on other places, of course. So getting a Ness or a Shulk on Brazil is almost impossible if you don’t want to spend much more than they are worth. But you still can get your Mario and Link for a decent price tag if you search on the right places.

          1. By the way, I just searched and the cheapest amiibos I can find are something around R$25,00 USD. More expensive than the original price, but still a relatively fair price considering shipping and import taxes.

        11. March 28, 2014: I have actually had the FrontPoint system
for six months now, so I included some long-term test notes regarding my experience
          below.

        12. It’s okay, Brazil. You aren’t the only ones getting screwed by Nintendo with amiibo. Everyone, even Japan which is a real shocker since they get the best support from Nintendo, are getting screwed by the amiibo because Nintendo’s run by a bunch of dumb apes nowadays.
