Developer Tomorrow Corporation has announced that it has, so far, sold around 250,000 copies of Little Inferno, which is available for purchase on iOS, PC and Wii U. Considering the peculiar nature of the game, in that players purchase items, throw them into a fireplace, and burn them, it has sold extremely well. If you’ve played Little Inferno, are you surprised that so many people purchased the game?
Tomorrow Corporation‘s Little Inferno was released on Wii U and iPad. In an interview with Game Industry, Kyle Gray of Tomorrow Corporation explained why the puzzle game launched on those particular plarforms. Gray said that he and his team first developed the idea behind the game, and then they decided which platforms it would work best on. Apparently, thanks to its 6.2-inch touchscreen controller and compatibility with Wii Remote controllers, the Wii U is a perfect fit for Little Inferno.
Why did you go for the platforms you did?
Kyle Gray: We tend to develop the game idea first and then try and figure out what platforms it works on the best. As soon as we had a working version of Little Inferno we knew it was going to be a great fit for a pointer or touch based device. When Nintendo announced the Wii U, everything just fell into place.
An iPad version also seemed like a great idea. There’s something nice about controlling fire with your fingertips – it feels like it’s tapping into some primitive caveman desire. Like shopping.
The price of Tomorrow Corporation‘s latest puzzle video game has been permanently reduced. It was initially priced at $14.99, but Little Inferno now costs $9.99 to download from the Nintendo eShop on Wii U. In Little Inferno, a player purchases a wide variety of items, throws them into a fireplace, sets them on fire, and watches them burn.
The sale was supposed to end yesterday, but the game’s developer and publisher, Tomorrow Corporation, has extended the deal until February 1st.

Tomorrow Corporation’s first Nintendo eShop game, Little Inferno, is scheduled to release alongside Wii U. The game takes place in a cold, snowy world and centers on a Little Inferno Entertainment Fireplace, a new, hot toy that’s desired by every child. The children in the game can purchase a wide variety of items, including robots, batteries, credit cards and squealing bugs, toss them into the fire, and then watch them burn. Little Inferno may support multiplayer and launches on the 18th of November.
According to Tomorrow Corporation’s Kyle Gabler, Nintendo has been a fan of indie games for quite a while. Gabler is surprised, but pleased, that a lot of indie games are being developed for Nintendo’s forthcoming console, Wii U.
“Little Inferno is set in a place where it’s been snowing for as long as anyone can remember, and it’s getting colder. The new toy on every kid’s wishlist this year is the Little Inferno Entertainment Fireplace. Children can buy toys and other products from a catalog (items such as robots, tiny galaxies, batteries, or squealing bugs), toss them in the hearth, and then play with them as they burn up. Everything reacts differently Sometimes [it's] adorable, surprising, or explosive. As objects burn, they pop out coins — and other things — that you can use to buy more objects and catalogs. But that can’t last forever!”
“I think the previous description is a fairly accurate summary, but it’s also kind of like saying ‘a city is a bunch of bricks stacked into buildings.’ Half the fun of Little Inferno is discovering exactly what’s going on.”
“We’re hoping we can also sneak in multiplayer, so the whole family can sit around and poke and prod their glowing high- definition fire together — using a combination of Wiimotes and GamePad — but that may have to come in an update. We’ll see.”

Nintendo announced last week that there will be 23 physical Wii U games available for purchase on the new console’s launch day. However, Nintendo hasn’t confirmed which digital games will be available for download from the Nintendo eShop on Wii U’s debut.
Tomorrow Corporation, the developer of fantastic WiiWare title World of Goo, confirmed its first Nintendo eShop title, Little Inferno, is a Wii U launch title. Unlike World of Goo, which was given an E rating by ESRB, Little Inferno is rated T for Teen.
Tomorrow Corporation, the designers behind the fantastic WiiWare title World of Goo, are bringing a brand-new game to Wii U.
