NHL07 + EA – Wii

Ouch.

In what’s considered a rather rash move, EA has decided to deny prospective Wii owners the chance to play its rather popular NHL franchise. It seems like the hockey fans dream game is set to grace the majority of current consoles such as the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 2, but Nintendo’s little box of tricks has been left out the equation confirm EA.

Now I’m not a huge hockey fan, mainly because the matches are shown on the frankly rubbish English TV station; Channel 5, at hours a vampire would shun. But, I can see how hockey could be made fun via Nintendo’s innovative controller. Just who wouldn’t want to at least attempt to use the Wii’mote’ as an actual hockey stick. I mean literally think of the interactivity here; your running for goal the keepers right in-front of you, you then swerve to the left, pull your right arm far back and hurl the putt right in the back of the keepers net… Fantastic!

I will be perfectly honest with you, I haven’t actually played a hockey game since the days of the Megadrive, which as we all know was many years ago. But, even though I’m not a self confessed hockey fan, I still enjoyed playing the video game iteration of the sport. Now if the ice laden game came to the Wii, I feel it’s perhaps my duty to catch up on the game since all these years have past, and also mainly due to how well the game would perform under the Wii’motes’ control. Lets just hope EA changes it mind and realizes just how much fun, and how much potential a version of the game would have on the upcoming Wii console.

I mean it may even drive people like me out to purchase a copy…

  1. Exactly.

I’m personally not a huge fan of EA’s sports range but this game could have tempted me to make that unexpected purchase.
