Japan: Wii U Sales Slip Slightly To Under 16k, Band Brothers P For 3DS Sells 40k

wii_u_gamepad_nintendo_3dsThis week’s Media Create sales from Japan are now in. While the Wii U’s sales slip slightly, it’s not by much, still managing to shift just under 16k units. Of course, the big contender this week is the PlayStation Vita TV, but it still doesn’t have the power to knock off the 3DS LL, which remains the best-selling console in the hardware chart.

Although there’s not much new in software this week with Super Mario 3D World due out in Japan tomorrow, Wii Party U suffers a considerable decrease in sales and only shifts 7k down from its party-popping 60k last week, pushing it into 17th place. However, the 3DS title Daigasso! Band Brothers P, which had its own Chotto Direct at the end of October, has sold just over 40k copies and places in 6th – now that’s some sweet music. The top 10 software and hardware charts can be found below.

    1. Ps vita sold more then the 3ds actually, if you combine the ps vita tv and the ps vita sales, also ps4 is coming out, it’ll bury the wii u, at least they still have the 3ds

          1. I guess the obvious must be pointed out to some… these are WEEKLY numbers not monthly! For the month 3DS regardless off how you combine the numbers is trouncing the Vita in any form combined and multiplied…. FACT!

        1. As much as Donkey Dick can be annoying, by his logic the vita still outsold the 3DS if you add the regular and XL sales compared to vita and vita tv sales.

          1. Yea lets put together the gameboy advance sales together with the gamecube gameboy advance player and the snes super gameboy together lol.

            1. It makes sense to lump different iterations of the same console together. Why would you rate two consoles with the same computing capabilities, controls and games library as different just because of size? Might as well call Wii U black a different console to Wii U white

              1. Cuz you don’t put together handhelds and consoles together and the vita TV is neither console nor handheld is a micro console made for people interested in ouya like devices.

                1. Whether it’s handheld is arbitrary, to my mind. It’s the same computer, same games, same company. The fact that you could put the very same copy of a game into either one and it’ll work means it’s the same console for me.

      1. Actually if you are going by that logic… the Wii U would still destroy to PS4 in terms of sales because the 3DS and 3DS LL sold far more that the Vita and Vita TV.

So really your “Logic” has more holes in it than political promises.

  1. Good the Wii U is stabilizing now and with the release of SM3DW on friday, units sold of epic proportions will be present!

    1. It doesn’t matter how well 3d world sales. The test will be how much does the console go up in numbers of unit sold. It can sale 3 mill because there is 3.5 mill WiiU people and 7:10 people that own Nintendo buy Nintendo games. So Until it breaks over 2.5 mill. It did nothing to push WiiU into a state where it can make it. If 3D World doesn’t increase the console numbers, its over. This is the last game hope for the Holiday for WiiU.

Cross your fingers the console numbers jump, who cares about the game. Unless consoles rises, 3rd party will go by the waste side. That leaves Nintendo and Sega, that doesn’t make a console.

      1. You know that Mario Kart is a bigger franchise than Mario platformers right? Super Mash bros is bigger as well.

Both of those games could easily outperform and push more units than Super Mario 3D World.

Your doom analysis/short sided Pachter guesswork is flawed.

    1. Yes, it sold many copies, but during that time the WiiU console only went up for one week and then back down. So most of those sales where from existing WiiU owners. It didn’t get to new people.

There is not enough people to make WiiU a viable console. They need something that MOVES CONSOLES. not moves games.

  2. As long as the Wii U stabilizes on that level + a jump when getting new games, it’s gonna do okay. If it just could do the same here in the west…

  3. Love 3DS so much =D
The Vita TV thing is actually a decent idea though. Being that I mostly play handhelds at home anyway it’s a good way to pick up a Vita cheap. I might look into getting one.

      1. It’s a PS Vita you plug into the TV so it’s basically a home console. It’s cheaper because no screen or controller. Obviously it doesn’t have the power of a Wii U or PS3 or the portability of the 3DS, but it’s still a cheap way for me to play a few games I’ve been interested in but didn’t want to buy a Vita for.
        It’ll never replace the 3DS though =D

          1. It’s about 95 USD, I believe. It’s a bit much considering second hand Vitas go for as low as about 130-140. But once second hand TVs come out, if they’re 70 or so I think it’s worth it.

    1. They should do something lile that for the Wii U, with the GamePad and the TV. Would be a great plus for people owning both!

        1. Though that sounds interesting, I don’t think it would be good, what makes the 3DS unique is that,

          1. 1st successful portable 3D gaming console
          2. Unique and exclusive games

However if you mean more crossplay games im game no pun intended

          1. I don’t see ant problem with making a peripheral that would allow the U to play 3DS games. It’s been done with GBC/N64 and GBA/GCN. The 3DS would still be unique. I’m not clear on how the 3DS being the first successful portable 3D gaming console and having exclusive means the games shouldn’t be playable on Wii U.
A bigger problem would be resolution, though. Kid Icarus wouldn’t look spectacular blown up to 48”

          2. I hope for both; Nintendo should really make something that rewards people for owning both. Crossplay and 3DS games on Wii U. GBA did work on GCN, didn’t it?

  4. hopefully this carries on i know the Wii u has had some small progress in USA lately and the UK has had a slight bump up in sales just hope it continues to grow once the hype of the xbone and ps4 die down

  5. The Wii U numbers are holding steady higher than before. That’s got to be good. SM3DW will give them another boost.

  6. Just wait til the PS4 and Xbox numbers start coming out! 3DS is the only console that even has a slim shot of competing with these bigshots. I’m glad that the Wii U is still doing all right. I’m surprised that the Vita actually defeated the 3DS, but not for long! Next week 3DS shall reign supreme again
