It Doesn’t Seem As Though Dragon Quest VIII Will Have 3D On Nintendo 3DS

We were all kinda excited to learn that Square Enix is bringing the PlayStation 2 classic Dragon Quest VIII to the Nintendo 3DS. Now it turns out that the game won’t feature the 3D we had all been hoping for on the remastered Nintendo 3DS version. Dragon Quest VIII has only been confirmed for release in Japan at present. If we are going to hear anything about localization then it’s likely we would hear about it during Square Enix’s E3 presentation next month.

ok square enix, bit of advice to us overseas….. localize the other games “10 and 7” there’s fans of your series over here you know! I understand the series is like catnip to you guys in the land of the rising sun but how about sharing some of that love with us ? You gave us 4,5,6 and 9 and they were amazing so do the right thing and bring them stateside to all the fans worldwide.

    2. 1. The project vars dev said they will try to hit 30 fps they will just have to take stuff out to get the game running better
      2. Instead of waiting until 2017 or 2018 for the nx if it is a console way before that they can get project cars on the wii u sometime this year that is my guess
      3. Devs can do what they want or rather I should say the companies may force them to do certain things duh dumbass whether you like it or not

      1. eminem 123 im give you fare warning im not like the others, so reframe from calling me a dumbass, or any insult, unless you received it yourself. I’m fully awear that a devs can do what they want, but that don’t make it right. I just find it funny how before it was a sure thing, for one thing and then, another thing change, then the next. listen if you invest money on this project, and you a nintendo gamer. You do have all rights to be mad, if they saying it may not come to the console you funded it for. So where your words stand now attention seeker. I gave you your 15 seconds, here your shot, give it all u got.

    3. I’m not really bummed about “no 3D”. Pokemon practically did it (except for battles and… CAVES?!). I’m sure there’s some laziness that’s contributing to the no-3D problem, but it’s still fine without 3D.

      1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

Still a shame because the games that use the 3D effect on the 3DS look all the better when it’s used.

        1. I agree to be honest, but I know a lot of people who complain about 3D in games. Overall, I think there’s a lot of potential when it comes to 3D in games, but sometimes it doesn’t need to be used.

          1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

The ones complaining about the 3D effect are just those pissed off it’s not HD instead, so I ignore those people for the most part.

        2. Still waiting on VII 3DS to release outside Japan, & that was 2013. Hel, the Android & iOS versions of VII have yet to release, even in Japan.

        3. Good. 3D is a waste of time and resources for the system, and means the game will be able to take more advantage of the capabilities of the 3DS.

          1. You clearly haven’t played the New 3DS. The 3D actually works well with no tight viewing angle. I actually play with the 3D on all the time now instead of off all the time with older models.

          2. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

Not really. Some games tend to look better with the 3D effect on. But you’re free to your opinion on 3D.

          1. If it results in better performance, better battery life, etc., for the game, why not? 3D isn’t a game-changer, nor does it warrant the effort put into the game to make sure it looks good.

              1. Yeah, there’s an off switch for the user, but the developer still has to make the game utilize the 3D if it’s an option, which means longer development and more resources of the system set aside to make sure the 3D works correctly.
As for porting to the eshop, that’s just up to the developer for their own reasons, whether they don’t want to have such a large game to download solely from the eshop (given the size of Xenoblade), or based on other variables they’ve looked at, etc.

              2. The nintendo magistrate

They wouldn’t do that they’d have an excuse like ” It cost more money to change controls and do minor tweeks and we feel the main fan base is here in japan (please understand).lol

              3. Squeenix, is this what you can do for Nintendo? Ignore the Wii U and port an old game to the 3DS?

While you’re at it, why not port old Kingdom Hearts to the 3DS?

                1. They’ve given the DS and 3DS some good stuff. And yeah, of course they’ll ignore the Wii U because it’s the black hole and they’d most likely lose money on it.

              4. I don’t care about 3D, just bring the game over to the US and also all other territories and also bring ober DQ X.

              5. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

Shame. The 3D effect always makes the games on the 3DS look better to me. Oh well. I can live without it if Squeenix doesn’t want to put forth the effort & hard work to make this game more than just a direct port. I guess they’d rather put more effort & hard work into a new game instead of a port. Then again, that didn’t stop them from doing that for Chrono Trigger DS. Oh wait. That version is just a port of the PS2 version. Nevermind!

              6. Who cares? The 3DS on the 3DS has always been a useless gimmick anyways. A marketing strategy to fool people into thinking that the 3D will add to the overall game experience. When in reality, it does NOTHING.
