Japan: Wii U Sells 16K, Nintendo 3DS Sells 25K

The charts from Japan are out thanks to Media Create, and the week shows the anticipated decline in Wii U sales. While Splatoon’s numbers are down again (expectedly) from last week, it remains in third place on the chart for the second week in a row. As a result, it seems that Wii U sales took a 5K dip, week over week.

New Nintendo additions to the list include Rhythm Heaven: The Best+ (at number 1) and  Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden (at number 2). As a result, Nintendo consoles have control over the top 3 titles this week, with a 10K Nintendo 3DS boost. In the top 20 games, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U hold a commanding 13 titles (11 and 2, respectively). For more information, check out the full chart below:

  1. And the Wii U sells thousands of units more than the PS4 for at least the 3rd week in row. I’m liking the change:)

      1. And yet all you ponies have to look forward to for the rest of the year is remasters and an indie game that Sony is trying to build as a retail title. Whoops

        1. Dude we ain’t got SHIT to look forward to but star fox yoshi and x. Yoshi ain’t THAT good let’s be serious (as a big AAA game it doesn’t cut it), star fox most people were disappointed with either the graphics or lack of online or other things, X we have been shown for the last 3 or 4 E3s so it’s not even exciting anymore. And what else do we have beyond that? Zelda whenever that happens and nothing else. Oh I’m sorry we get fast racing neo, that changes EVERYTHING! Face it nintendo ain’t got shit to offer and screwed us, stop being a fanboy and be a fan and let them get the criticism they deserve instead of just pointing at whatever sony is doing (which is far more, FF15, FF7, Kingdom Hearts 3, all from one studio, shit on all we have coming pretty much). Sometimes you just gotta accept that nintendo fucked up, and they did big time.

          1. Super Mario Maker
            Mario Tennis Ultra Smash
            Yoshi’s Wooly World
            Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival
            Rodea the Sky Soldier
            Xenoblade Chronicles X
            Devil’s Third
            Star Fox Zero
            Legend of Kay Anniversary
            Mighty No.9
            Yooka Laylee
            Bloodstained Ritual of the Night
            Project Treasure
            Fatal Frame 5
Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem
            The Legend of Zelda
            Retro Studios’ unnanounced game
            Pokken Tournament

Also indies such as Fast Racing Neo, 90s Arcade Racer, Aqua Moto Racing Utopia, etc.

If you got nothing to look forward, that’s cool, I’ve got plenty. My advice? Sell your Wii U.

            1. My advice is don’t use a list of games mostly that we’ve known about for a year or two as something that’s supposed to impress. Especially when half the games you’re listing are laughable as all hell for E3 status. Mario tennis? Quick cash in. Animal crossing amiibo? How fucking dare you even mention that. X has been shown the last 3 or 4 E3s it’s not even exciting anymore. Mighty # 9 has been looking disappointing. Yooka Laylee ain’t coming anytime soon, nor is bloodstained and fans made those happen, not nintendo so that doesn’t even count, Shin megami fire emblem looks meh as fuck. Zelda we already know about it’s a given anyway since it’s a “new” nintendo system and has no zelda yet. Retro should have announced it’s unannounced game if it was anything worth mentioning. Pokken tournament isn’t even confirmed for the U yet, so far just arcade. Those indie games aren’t even close to exciting except maybe fast racing neo which let’s be serious, is only being hyped cause its all nintendo fans have and won’t have the lasting appeal mario kart or other games has. And if indie games are the best your system can offer, you have nothing. Your list is exactly why nintendo sucks. Cause people like you actually think it’s good, and so they continue to get away with trash. My advice to you is to get yourself checked out by a doctor. Cause you just got dick slapped real hard by nintendo yesterday yet you seem to not even notice so I think there may be something wrong with your sense of touch.

              1. As I said, if you’ve got nothing to look for, that’s cool, just sell your Wii U and don’t support a company which you don’t feel is catering to your needs.

I actually like what they’ve shown so far and have plenty to look forward.

When I thought the Wii was trash I just moved on and bought a PS3. It’s easy as that. Just move the fuck on man, you sound like those girls that ”hate” their ex but keep fucking with them, then start whining about them.

                1. I pretty much am dropping them if they don’t change things around. If you thought the wii was trash, I really don’t see how you can be happy with what was shown yesterday. And I love how whenever someone says something negative about nintendo people call it whining. It’s a comment section and nobody is gonna agree on everything unless they are a bunch of blind fanboys who like everything nintendo touches. So why then when a nintendo fan complains and says they screwed us, do other people call it whining? And there’s nothing for me really on the other systems except maybe Kingdom Hearts 3 and a few others but I’m not buying a $400 system right now that doesn’t appeal to me as of yet. You like what nintendo has shown, that’s dandy. I’d rather be a “whiner” than just never voice my opinion. I don’t come here to praise nintendo. I come to discuss it. And you’re in quite the minority of people who actually thought nintendo had a good showing. So good for you, enjoy being part of the new nintendo, you and the few thousand other fans who clearly enjoy the crap they laid on us yesterday.

                  1. It’s ok, I’m already in the minority who likes what the Wii U offers, if that wasn’t the case I would have a PS4 by now, but I don’t because I don’t really care about any game Sony has.

Also, I love it when someone says something positive about Nintendo they’re just sucking Nintendo’s dick. See? It works both ways.

You can say whatever you want man, I don’t really care. I’m just saying it’s easier to just let it go and move on.

                    1. It’s incredibly well known that there’s nintendo fanboys who suck nintendos dick at every decision. They do positive things, I thought star fox looked decent. But it could have been better. It almost looked like Star Fox 64 remade. And no online. Every time nintendo does some good they have to screw it up. They’ve been fighting online gaming since gamecube. You can ignore stuff like that and that’s fine. I don’t hate on nintendo all day every day. But they have been screwing up quite a bit lately and the general consensus of nintendo fans and the gaming community in general is that yesterday was a pathetic showing. Enjoy your crappy games, good day.

        2. Off of the top of my head, exclusive games that I’m looking forward to and will probably get for the rest of the year (parenthesis are the versions I’ll get):

PS4, PS3, Vita – Yakuza 5 (PS3), Hypderdimension Neptunia re;Birth 3 (Vita), Tales of Zesteria (PS4), Persona 5 (PS4), Until Dawn (PS4), Lost Dimension (Vita), J Stars Victory Vs + (PS4, Vita), Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture (PS4), Danganronpa Another Story (Vita), Dragon Quest Heroes (PS4), Disgaea 5 (PS4), Tearaway Unfolded (PS4), One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 (PS4, Vita), Uncharted Collection (PS4), and Persona Dancing All Night (Vita). How many of those are indie titles and remasters by the way?

Xbox One – Halo 5 Guardians, Forza 6, Gears of War Ultimate Edition, Rise of the Tomb Raider

          Wii U, 3DS – Yoshi’s Woolly World (Wii U), Xenoblade Chronicles X (Wii U), Yo-Kai Watch (3DS), Triforce Heroes (3DS)

Then add multiplatform games to each one and we have a jam packed year. I’m sure there were some other exclusives I missed but oh well. So goes the mind.

            1. Yep. I’m guilty of not finishing that too but whatever. My backlog is already massive. Adding a few more games will be like a drop in the bucket. lol

  2. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

    >>>At least some good news, watching that Xbot machine fail 100.001% more than the Wii U in Japan is always a wonderful thing>>>

    1. Specifically, from a math perspective, Wii U is doing 164,130% better than Xbox One. #TheMoreYouKnow

      1. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

        >>>Even better, thanks, my systems are low in power from all the malfunctions I got yesterday>>>

          1. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

            >>>Not yet, resources are very low at this moment due to many otherworldly issues, I will get it eventually>>>

        1. Gosh guys, the E3 was not that bad, we got Starfox Zero (which the treehouse played and it looks AMAZING) we got that really cool looking Zelda co-op, we got Hyrule Warriors Legends, we got the Paper Mario x Mario and Luigi (I forget the name) and many more. It wasn’t as good as last years but it was still great, the only reason your disappointed is because of all the rumors that you all got your hopes up on.

          1. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

            >>>No, if you were a fan 97% of your entire life and practically lived along side Nintendo’s gaming era from the start or almost till today, this is right off bad, the young generation or civilians will never understand how horrible this is for beings like me>>>

            >>>And unlike others I barely take rumours into consideration but the reality is that the Wii U is failing and they still don’t do anything to attract more, I might be satisfied but the empire cannot continue for long if no reinforcements are brought in>>>

            1. Thank you so much for saying that. Can’t stand people acting like we should even be excited about that. That’s one of the best things they showed us??? A handheld version of a game not even a year old? Shame on the fanboys.

    2. Reality is Dolphin Revolutionized Cafe NX

I like the fact that WiiU is doing well in Japan, its just a shame its not Nintendo´s priority focus anymore, SFZero proved they can achieve lots of awesomness with its hardware and gamepad, but it is what it is.

I hope NX will launch with Nintendo´s biggest titles and keep them going strong again.

  3. Wow at Rhythm Heaven: The Best+ debuting in Japan higher than Splatoon. Localization should be imminent by now?

Everything on the physical release side after Mario Kart 8 sold poorly.

Stella Glow debuted with lower-than-expected sales (even lower than those two previous PlatinumGames Wii U titles but better than Codename S.T.E.A.M). What a swan song for its developer.

Meanwhile Wii U has enough legs to cling to #2 in hardware charts.

And finally that XB1 hardware sales.

  4. The Wii U was finally seeing some daylight with “Splatoon” and Nintendo is trying to pull the rug out. ANY hint that we were going to see halfway decent support in 2016 would have smoothed over the conference debacle.

  5. Sir Isaac Newton of Judah

The WiiU has caught fire and momentum for a whole month, then Nintendo go and present the most nonsensical atrocious digital event ever. I am a Nintendo fan, but that was the most weird e3 Nintendo had, not as bad as the 2008, and 2012, but the WiiU has gained momentum lol. Let me breathe. Nintendo fans lets for once tell Nintendo to use that money from Amiibos for real games and not stupid Nintendo party.

    F=ma.
