Reggie Talks About Staggered Super Mario Run Release On Android

Nintendo launches their new mobile game Super Mario Run in just four days for IOS, but will be staggering the release for the Android platform. Nintendo of America’s President Reggie Fils-Aime told Bloomberg why this is the case:

“In order to develop the game and make it as special, we had to focus on one platform and we decided to focus on iOS, iPhone, [and] iPad,” Reggie told Bloomberg. “And so, in the future, it is coming to Android, we’ve made that commitment and something that will happen in 2017.”

When asked whether the company is alienating Android users by launching the games with initial exclusivity to IOS he advised, “We don’t think so because our focus is going to be to bring it on to all of those devices as quickly as possible. For us, it’s all about making sure that the experience is great, it’s making sure that from a consumer standpoint that they’ve got access to this game. We see the market as all two billion plus smart devices out there. So, certainly, it will be coming to the Android platform as soon as we can.”

      1. Why do people like you always think that. Without a doubt at all, releasing this game on iOS and it’s extremely limited number of system configurations would be a whole lot easier than releasing it on Android and the fragmented hardware market mess that comes with it.

    1. That’s bull shit, they just worried about piracy first and money second. iOS is pretty lock down unless jailbroken, Android, despite still having the biggest worldwide market in mobile, got the short end because it’s easy to find an APK of any app

      1. now that makes more sense. i really don’t care what their true reasons were releasing it on ios first but im just glad its coming to android, i wont buy it on launch day but i will in the distant future after it is released on android.

        1. I’m not supporting this at all. This game is just a port from the last 4 New Mario Bros. games, with Mario just endlessly running and you using a screen. Stuff like this is why we don’t get new stuff from Nintendont. we don’t stop supporting Nintendo and them selling us nostalgia instead of core games like before.

          1. Your comment is invalid. Since you’re obviously a troll… I won’t waste my time with you. Just one thing, watch the trailer with the “features” on it and you’ll see it is just not another endless running app.

            1. I did. It’s the same shit with a little twist. Nothing new at all, bro. Hope you have unlimited data and always around the internet to play this hunk of junk.

  1. You know, that… and the pile of cash Apple handed them (along with an agreement for Apple to push the product).

They weren’t worried about Miitomo launching on two platforms, apparently. Neither was Niantic with Pokemon Go.

    1. Underpowered? Even the iPhone 6S is faster than many recent smartphones; and the 6 is likely faster than the majority of the Android market.
