New Skylanders Game Is Coming This Year

It’s hardly surprising to hear that a new Skylanders title is in the works and is coming to various platforms this year. However, Activision says it will be an innovative new title. The game is thought to be developed by Vicarious Visions rather than original creators, Toys For Bob.

        1. What “smart” parents would do is force their children to become geniuses when they’re not just to impress their shallow ass image and not for the sake of their kid’s future.

Those who rob are the purely desperate, STUPID and careless.

    1. It is infact brillintly made for al partys . They make money , children got alot of characters to choose from for a small amount of money , aka weekly earnings etc. And us parents can get away with not spending alot , as children are just as happy if they get a 100 dollar toy as they are getting a 10 dollar toy , aslong as it interest them it dosent matter dose it , Simple facts. After all isent the most important thing that they are happy? It dosent need to be expensive if you got common sense and moral paving the way.

    1. What the hell even happen to spyro? I remember playing his games on gameboy. Haven’t seen a sypro game since.

    2. Among the older audience, Spyro was probably what drew the most attention to this new IP.

But among the dominating younger audience, Spyro is just the name of one playable character and nothing more… They jumped onto the hype train and huge advertising campaign that made the brand recognizable.

  1. Is club nintendo really down or is it just heavy traffic still? I’m getting the Sorry Site unavailable page. By now I figured the rush would be over.

  2. I find it hilarious that people are continuing to scream “CASH GRABS, CASH GRABS”, when amiibos are just as much of a cash grab, if not even more of a cash grab with all of the scalpers….calm down….they’re figurines. It’s not a cash grab if people enjoy it, everyone here who owns amiibos should understand that.

    1. No, you don’t need Amiibo at all to play/beat Smash. You’ll NEED one of each elemental Skylanders to beat each Skylanders game and for each new game you NEED to buy a new batch because the older ones wont unlock any new parts of the game. Big fucking difference.

      1. You only need them if you’re a conpletionist. There is absolutely nothin gained from owning them all. No new ending, no new boss, no bonus, nothing. The only incentive for owning all skylanders is the same incentive that amiibos have; to own the full collection. Most people I know with skylanders only own the ones they think look cool, similar to my friends who own amiibos. Simply owning the figures in the starter pack is enough to beat the game. It’s the same thing as how the Zelda amiibos work for Hyrule warriors. You can play just fine with the weapons you get in the game, you don’t require the amiibo unlockables.

        1. I’ve only played one Skylanders game, and yes, I agree that my only incentive to collect them all (either Skylanders or Amiibos) is because I’m a completitionist.

But there’s a huge difference: Smash Bros doesn’t have a challenge or anything demanding that you buy the Amiibos. Amiibos are completely optional even if you wish to 100% the game.

But Skylanders starter sets only come with three figurines, much less than the “one of each element” necessary to even 100% the in-game content, find alternate paths, and unlockable goodies.

To compare the two is, truthfully, very, well, distasteful… Skylanders is a game built and designed around collecting the figurines – even multiple copies of figurines if you want to unlock alternate skill paths; whereas Smash Bros (and any other game that supports Amiibos) is a full game on its own, built and designed to be its own game, and with Amiibos unlocking bonus goodies or just something fun to do. Mario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriors are prime examples of how Amiibos are nothing more than bonus goodies as the content they unlock are added via a patch long after the game’s release.

          1. I must say, you’re certainly much smarter than many other meatheads on this site, good supporting points and whatnot….but I still can’t help but disagree.

You said that you require the skylanders to 100% the game, and yes that may be true….but if you don’t buy them all, you can still get up to 97% of the game complete…how do I know? Because I did so with Swap Force. The completion aspect is entirely upon obtaining a few minuscule hats, and getting a couple of collection achievements….that’s it. And even then, half the game’s elemental gates are designed so that they can be opened explicitly with the elements included in the starter pack…..The bonuses for buying more figures are nothing big, nothing to NEED.

On a very comparable note, you stated that the Amiibos just unlock something fun to do, little goodies, on games that were updated from finished games into these states where they had amiibo bonuses. That’s all fine and dandy, but that doesn’t change the fact that the update on these finished games gave said finished games a small area of empty space in them; empty space that requires amiibos to unlock. Sure for smash, it’s nothing big, but for MK8’s costumes, Hyrule Warrior’s weapons, being able to play as fire emblem characters in code name steam, character costumes in one piece, stat boosts in kirby, it’s all the same minuscule amount of unlockable content. Nothing is needed to have fun, nothing is needed to 100% the story of the game. It’s all for some addons that make the game a little more fun to play, that’s it. It’s the same for both figure lines.

You want to talk outrageous, need to buy kinda stuff, head over to Disney Infinity…..more than half the game’s playable maps and levels are included with the purchases of the figures….that’s a tad ridiculous….

    1. It’d be neat…but the increase in cost from something like that would get out of hand…simply being able to light up again would be fine with me lol

  3. I remember getting the first game. Beating it along with getting all the Skylanders. Then I got the 2nd one and I still haven’t touched it. I gave up on the series at some point. This somehow ended up like Rayman with the rabbids except Spyro is just…..there.

    1. It’s a good series and the games are certainly fun, but let’s face it, it’s a cash grab… Which is okay, considering that’s what drives capitalism. If nobody did anything for profit, our world would still be in the medieval age.
