To celebrate the Nintendo 3DS’ first birthday Nintendo is sending out Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime in Mii form to 3DS owners via SpotPass. Nintendo Europe recently send out a Satoru Iwata Mii character earlier this week to celebrate the systems first birthday in Europe. Reggie and Iwata can help you get the elusive pink puzzle pieces in Puzzle Swap, so be sure to get them via Mii Plaza.

Nintendo 3DS owners are advised to check their consoles today as some gamers may have received a special Mii. Yes, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata’s Mii character is visiting people’s Nintendo 3DS consoles and he not only adds to your Accomplishments, but he also happens to have all of those missing puzzle panels you need.
Hironobu Sakaguchi , the acclaimed producer behind the Final Fantasy series, and more recently The Last Story, has shared his Mii character online via Twitter. To download Sakaguchi’s Mii character on your Nintendo 3DS you’ll need to select Mii Maker and then select QR Code/Image Option.
The fine folk over at Nintendo 3DS Friend Codes have assembled the Resident Evil: Revelations cast as Mii Characters. I’ve downloaded them myself and they were not quite what I was expecting, but if you wish to add some video game characters to your Mii collection then visit the link here and snap away. Nintendo UK has revealed that the number of Mii characters for both Wii and the Nintendo 3DS in Europe now exceeds 73.2million – more than the populations of France, the United Kingdom and Italy or more than Spain and The Netherlands combined.
The global Mii population is a staggering 213.8 million meaning that if all the Mii characters were to form a country it would have the fifth largest population in the world and would sit above Brazil, Nigeria and Pakistan. The European Mii population is so large that if it was a country of its own it would be the second largest country in Europe after Germany.
Europe’s Mii population is split almost equally between the genders – 37.2 million male versus 36.1 million female characters. Indeed, in several instances, females are the predominant Mii gender – the UK, Spain and the Netherlands have a greater number of female than male Mii characters, at 51%, 52% and 51% females respectively.
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata recently told investors that the company is busy developing new features for Mii Plaza and new Mii related games for the Nintendo 3DS.
Iwata was told by an investor that there was very little left to do on the app which prompted Iwata to reveal that Nintendo is working on new content for the application which will arrive later this year. Satoru Iwata also mentioned that Nintendo is also developing a number of new titles that make use of all the Miis people have collected on their Nintendo 3DS console. Wonder what those will be?
Nintendo Japan has announced that it plans to deliver Miis for two popular Japanese comedians, Shuzo Matsuoka and Sanma Akashiya via the Wii Connect 24 system. The two stars have featured prominently in an advertising campaign run by Nintendo Japan over the past few months. I wonder whether Nintendo of America or Nintendo Europe will decide to do something similar?
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has revealed that Nintendo will be releasing a super sized Augmented Reality Card during the latest edition of Iwata Asks.
The Augmented Reality card will need to be shot vertically with the Nintendo 3DS camera and will allow you to stand next to an enormous virtual Mii. The super sized Augmented Reality Card will be released as a bonus to Club Nintendo members.
Nintendo have officially announced that their planned Wii video channel is set to launch in May.
The video channel, which is a join venture between Nintendo and media firm Densu, will be freely available to download in Japan in May. Once the application is downloaded, Wii users can then register up to eight Mii characters to integrate with what can only be described as ‘a virtual living room’.
