Nintendo 3DS: Shigeru Miyamoto Discusses Possibilities For Mario 3DS

Shigeru Miyamoto recently had the chance to sit down with online gaming publication IGN to discuss what he would have liked to change in the iconic Super Mario World for the Super Nintendo.

“Well you know a lot of the ideas that I would have liked to have implemented in Super Mario World have come to life in later Mario games since then. But the question gets me thinking about what fun it would be to create a Super Mario World game on the Nintendo 3DS and how we could use the depth and the sense of distance offered by 3D visuals on the world map and on the maps in that game, so that you have Bullet Bills flying at you from a distance and popping up off the screen.”

Nintendo Wii: Activision Explain Why GoldenEye 007 Is Wii Exclusive

Activison have explained the reasoning behind developing GoldenEye 007 exclusively for the Nintendo Wii.

“There are a number of different reasons,” said Activision’s Brian Pass as he explained the decision. “One is we have a partnership with Nintendo. It’s a great opportunity. This game was originally on the N64, so there’s the nostalgia factor for people that are Nintendo fans. So we wanted to partner with Nintendo for this.

“The opportunity on the Nintendo Wii platform is huge. There’s roughly 12 million Wiis in North America. But it’s not really a console that a lot of shooter fans are playing on. So we wanted to offer them their own first-person shooter, that’s unique and exclusive to that console.

“We really want to tap in to the nostalgia for Nintendo fans, and take advantage of the opportunity presented by the platform.”

Nintendo Wii: Nintendo Explain The Lack Of 3DS Game Reveals At Nintendo E3 Press Conference

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has explained to analysts why Nintendo decided not to announce the whole host of titles that are currently being developed by Nintendo for the 3DS at the Nintendo press conference.

“In terms of our own internal software development, we will be devoting much of our resources to support Nintendo 3DS. From our historical perspective, since we thought it is obvious that first-party software lineup needs to support the new platform to expand its installed base, we did not emphasize that in our [E3] presentation. We will of course introduce quality first-party software.”

“Our internal teams, which have created series titles supported by Nintendo fans, are now beginning their work on development, very excited about the various types of things that they’re going to be able to achieve.”
